Norv's thoughts on our team

honestly I couldnt tell you, just in the flow of the game it kept happening.

I havent rewatched the game on tv yet and I am not sure if you can even see it on tv.

I got pissed and deleted it off my DVR.

Was hoping someone had a breakdown of the coverage. Roy looked OK to me. Not a game breaker, but OK. Why the hell can we turn it on at the end of halves or games and look so inept the rest of the time? It's making me nuts.

Just curious, how many times was he left in one on one press coverage? Any idea if a particular DB was shadowing him or were they shutting him down with one guy no matter who was covering him?
Honestly, I don't think they were "shutting down" either player, really. They each had 70+ yards and would have had tons more if we had went 60% pass instead of 60% run. Give both of them 4 more pass attempts each and the both likely have 100+ yard games.

you said earlier they wouldn't dare play Austin that way. sounds like a bias to me

think whatever you want.

I personally didnt notice austin getting played that way, but if theogt says they did it on his side to I believe him.

if I had a bias I would have posted roy williams ridiculous post game interview from last week. But I dont wish more trouble on the guy so I didnt.

I agree. I am not sure they shut down either of them. With all the runs in a row, I thought Romo was hurt. The last drive showed he was fine health wise and capable of making SD pay for their coverage. So what happened?

I will. Now back to the RW bashing.

Not getting credit for a TD when you cross the goal line, apparently.

well there is your problem, i am not bashing him.

I am saying I cant believe we didnt make a big play somewhere with them doing this, theogt said they did it to austin and that makes it worse for me.

When teams do that you have to throw the ball there and challenge them.

and I stand by what I said about roy not getting much seperation and that is why he doesnt get many calls. It always looks like he is getting mugged.

This is from Galloway, who started naming a "San Diego source" but has been drinking on his show and pretty much admits it's Norval himself. (As do all the other hosts.)

Says Ratliff is the best defensive lineman they played all year.

Ware is obviously special.

Spencer is, surprisingly to Galloway, a very good player.

SD has great respect for both our corners, Jenkins and (yes) Newman.

Our weak spots, they felt, were our D-ends and both safeties.

Also said they don't want to get run all over, but they'd rather get run on than have Romo throw it on them. But they did say if you could stop the main threat of Austin making huge plays on you, you'd be okay.

Just FYI.
I guess he was not impressed with the bow offered up by Olshansky?

You can't just leave it at that..........we've gotta see it now.

What does Norv know? He's just an NFL Head Coach. We have real experts in here.

:madden:

Watching all that film trying to discern our tendencies must of mushed his brain.

San Diego gave Roy williams the least respect you can.

Single man coverage and they pressed.

and he couldnt make a thing happen.

Hmmmmmm........does this single man coverage include the play where the LB batted down and almost intercepted the Romo pass that was intended for RW? Because, when they showed the replay, Roy had the CB trailing him (seperation) BUT the S basically on top of him, waiting for the pick.

Yeah, he was covered by one guy all day and did absolutely nothing (4 catches, 74 yards and 2 obvious, missed P.I. calls)...........................

He did okay considered he got 1-on-1 coverage the whole game and that is all he could produce as the #1 Dallas WR. If the CB that was covering him could tackle you could knock 25 yards off of that total.

The big issue isn't whether RW is a mediocre #2 WR who can occasionallly take advantage of 1-on-1 coverage. Crayton already gave us that level of production in 2007/8.

The issue is whether he is worth his ongoing salary and occupying the #2 WR spot when we could potentially put in a more productive receiving option.

I can tell you I'd rather spend $9M elsewhere.

The draft picks are gone forever unfortunately - would have given us a chance to upgrade safety, IL, OL.

Like I said to theebs, did this supposed one-on-one coverage in your mind include the time where Romo almost got picked trying to throw to Roy in TRIPLE COVERAGE? As the CBS replay clearly showed, Roy got bracketed by the CB and S, which let Stephen Cooper (LB) jump th route and tip Romo's throw.

If you are going to dis him, at least get the facts right. Hell, theebs even admitted he didn't watch the replay yet, but assumed that Roy was being covered one-on-one all day.

That sounds real...and not just becasue I agree with almost everything said. :D

Serioulsy though, our weak links on D seem to be our DEs and to some degree out Safties--which is why you the corners appear to be burned sometimes when actually the safty was out of position. I wonder about Newman sometimes and I still thnk Sensabaugh was a decent add.

I'd be curious to here how our Oline is assessed.

For some reason, I think some here think we have the best personel in the league and that we have no excuses for not winning every game. That magnifies the disappointment of any loss--regardless of what team we lost to. We have good personel, but we are average at best in some areas.

Did I say all day? No I didnt. I said there were alot of times, mostly when he went down the sideline where it was one on one and we didnt make anything out of it and that is what I was confused about.

Speaking of getting your facts straight, I havent watched the replay yet but umm. I was in the stadium watching....so dont act like I have seen the game.

and also again, I didnt say he was one on one all game. I said exactly what I saw repeatedly here.

This notion that I have it in for roy is wrong.

No I wont cause it would just cause the guy more grief and like I said I have no issue with him. I think his attitude stinks but I also think he is a good guy who fits in with this locker room and can help this team win.

Yeah DC.com has it, I tried to edit my original post because I had paused the video just before he starts blabbing.

Still haven't finished but its a real winner of a interview so far.
