that seems like it has to be a record. i can't imagine an nfl team going an entire season without a cornerback picking a pass off. also, i'd be interested in the fewest turnovers created by a defense in a 16 game schedule. 8 seems like it has to be close to the record.

I don think it's a record.

I'm just thinking out loud here (Read: rambling), but I think the Cowboys' lack of turnovers is due to opponent offenses being able to stay on schedule in terms of down and distance. Because the Cowboys don't defend the run well, opponents can pick up three or 4 yards on first down pretty easily. From there, it's not difficult to get into third and short. Opponent quarterbacks aren't normally tasked with making difficult throws into tight coverage.

Additionally, the Cowboys offense isn't finding the end zone often. Opponents have no need to press.

I think we can give ourselves a chance to right that ship with 4 games to go.

Stay with the pit bull aggressive defense. We have to force some bad throws that can be intercepted.

Going all out on defense is our only chance... At EVERYTHING!!!

That's an amazing but pitiful stat.

IMO, the defensive backs and WR coach need to go. And we need to allocate some serious resources there in the offseason.

Most teams have corners that will luck themselves into a pick or two. We just don't have play making corners, it has nothing to do with the schemes/playcalling of the opposing offenses.

Are our corners just that bad or are the coaching just not putting them in the right spots/bad scheme? Or both?

Opposing offenses aren't taking near as many chances downfield these days due to our inept offense. That explains quite a bit of it, but......I have one pet peeve: our defenders don't turn their heads around very often to look for the ball. There are a lot of times where an easy INT awaits them if only they turned around.

That coupled with more man coverage lessens the chances.

The only corner I think that has come close to getting a pick is Patmon...once against the Falcons and the other against the Bucs. I can't recall any other corner coming close.

I can understand taking chances deep giving us more chance for an INT, but to not have an INT and to have only 2 chances of coming close is ridiculous.

The Scouts and the GM don't evaluate the secondary correctly. It's not working. It's time to sign average DBs in free agency and stop drafting overrated cornerbacks and find them in the middle rounds (Sherman and Scandrick).

Focus on the front seven or other areas on the team.

However, the defense (including the secondary) is clearly not the problem in Dallas.

The biggest reason we have few turnovers this year is our pathetic offensive produciton. Of course our head coach will never point that out because it is HIS offense!

From what I've seen our corners are playing not to get beat. They're not putting themselves in a position to get picks by giving receivers plenty off cushion. We saw that late in the Seattle game with Wilson completing several short passes underneath to move into FG range.
