In the Giants game, our beloved Cowboys scored one touchdown and four field goals. The obvious negative in that scenario is that our offense is not finishing drives with 6s instead we are getting 3s. This will kill us when we play Green Bay, Seattle and the rest of the NFC East. We need to be more efficient once we get in the red zone and stop being Redball cute. He has always had a penchant for throwing the ball when he gets in the ten yard and in zone. Earth to Redball, we have a message for you. We have the best power back in the NFL. Use him. The fade route in the corner to Dez is not working. Their defenses know they are coming. Try running the ball. Here is another bulletin, Red. We also have the best O Line in the league. What part of that equation do you not get? Red, you have been a glaring impediment in every game we play. You are the worst, in game, coach the Cowboys have had. You need to step back and let smarter play callers run the offense. Please do not ruin this season and our run to the SB with your predilections to being too cute.

lol Garrett doesn't even call the plays.

I agree with some of what you're saying - the team needs to be more efficient with scoring opportunities, but other parts don't make a ton of sense.

:lmao2:

I lost it when you started talking to Garrett directly lolll
Red gets most of his advice on this blog, didn't you know that? Remember when he would throw the red flag like it was a football. I told him that he looked like a complete dweeb for doing that and he stopped. Now he only looks like half a dweeb with the flag dangling from his right pocket, like some tango dancer. Gosh, I really dislike him as a game day coach. Have you seen his clock management skills? No, because he does not have any.

Other teams don't have Snacks Harrison at DT. Fred and Martin struggle with Snacks in the run game more than any other player.

First game.

Issues can easily be fixed.

If this is still an issue in October, we can talk.
You are correct but the issue is not new. Red has been doing this for his entire tenure as our coach. He loves to throw the ball inside the ten. I am not saying don't ever throw. I am saying seeing three incompletes in a row several times a year is frustrating.

Don't blame Garrett for offense, he is not OC
Don't blame Garrett for defense, he is not D.C.
Don't blame Garrett for personnel choices, that is Mccray and Stephen
Don't blame Garrett for lack of discipline or accountability, Jerry over rules him

If you find he is not giving a good press conference, feel free to blame him because that is his only job apparently

Garrett also gives speeches about "The Process" and "The Right Kinda Guy" and other fairy tales. Don't count him short.

While I agree with this, I was disappointed on that first drive that we didn't run on first or second down from the 3. That put us in a position on third down where it was almost assured of being a pass. I know offensive coordinators are always trying to outsmart the defensive coordinators, but if you are going to try to do that, at least be clever about it. ... Drag the tight end after faking the run. Flare it to the back or fullback.

We tend to rely on the fade because of Dez's ability to win the ball while I think the fade is good if it isn't your go-to goal-line play. (Still, with a good pass from Dak on third down, we would have scored anyway.)

It's Garrett's conservative nature and not playing the odds correctly. And Garrett can tell Linehan that we need to run or throw and even suggest certain plays to call. Happens all of the time in the NFL with coaches that don't call plays.

Personally, I think it was ridiculous to not run because EE was gouging the Giants defense and with Dak we have the RPO available as well as we just made a big pass to Butler and the Giants defense was likely a little tired and reeling. Get 1 run play off on first or 2nd down and you're likely to score.

It will be a struggle as long as the team has the attitude that 2 yards to go is a passing down. Happened more than once Sunday, and happened a lot last year. Doesn't really make sense with Zeke and our line.

I don't get the fascination with the fade in the end zone. This one was actually better than most of the ones Dak tried last season, when he didn't get nearly enough loft on them, but it's still not really working.

The third down call was a run-pass option, so it was Dak who chose to throw the slant to Dez. It was absolutely the right choice: he just screwed up the throw.

It's laughable when people throw in..this will kill us when we play..

You mean the 6 point win by the Falcons was good enough vs the bears?

How about the 17 the Packers put up vs Seattle that was good enough? I guess the 3 points the seahawks mustered vs the Packers was uber impressive

The fade to Dez was a quick snap to avoid a challenge, so it's hard to be adamantly against that pass in that situation.

While I would not have run on second and third down, we had a very open receiver on both plays for a TD. Dak simply threw a bad ball both times. So we can fault the play calls, but the play created an easy TD opportunity and the players have to execute. Dak was simply too hyped at the start.
