Not Finishing

Don't blame Garrett for offense, he is not OC
Don't blame Garrett for defense, he is not D.C.
Don't blame Garrett for personnel choices, that is Mccray and Stephen
Don't blame Garrett for lack of discipline or accountability, Jerry over rules him

If you find he is not giving a good press conference, feel free to blame him because that is his only job apparently

He claps with high efficiency and maximum effort.
His timing on his clapping is second to none.
He also does drills with Dak by playing like they are playing catch in his backyard.
He has a good haircut on the sidelines and in the press conference.
He went to Princeton with a degree in history so he can know what our history of mistakes are and to not do them again.....wait a min...

Man, I want JG's job bad, what does he do.

While I agree with this, I was disappointed on that first drive that we didn't run on first or second down from the 3. That put us in a position on third down where it was almost assured of being a pass. I know offensive coordinators are always trying to outsmart the defensive coordinators, but if you are going to try to do that, at least be clever about it. ... Drag the tight end after faking the run. Flare it to the back or fullback.

We tend to rely on the fade because of Dez's ability to win the ball while I think the fade is good if it isn't your go-to goal-line play. (Still, with a good pass from Dak on third down, we would have scored anyway.)
Dez is much better at the back shoulder pass on the end zone than he is on the fade route. When he and Dak are on the same page the back shoulder is unguardable. The fade is an iffy play because the ball tends to be in the air for a long time and it gives the DBs the opportunity to jump and contest the pass. The backshoulder is either way open or you can throw it away without allowing the DB the chance to snatch the ball or bat it away.

Garrett is responsible for all aspect he is the HC and guess what they won. His team was ready and they went out and won the game. He has to be the only HC in the NFL who can win games and catch hell from wanna be but never will be coaches.

He will catch hell til he actually wins something important, like a ring or at least get to the championship game. We need to stop saying its the OC, DC, Stephen, Jerry, Rowdy, and whoever else we want to talk about and look at the HC sometimes.

I actually like JG, but sometimes we give him too much leeway. He did win and was ready, but last time i saw him, neither of those things happened though....and we have a memory.

We played a good solid defense who got tougher and tougher as the field got shorter.
make sense?

No doubt he will catch hell until they win a ring, however I don't know many HC who catch hell after a win. Garrett is the HC, the OC, DC and Special Teams coach and all assistant coaches work under Garrett. His responsibility is to have his team ready and focused. If they fail it is his failure, if the coaches fail it is his failure. That is the role all HC take on, it falls to them. But as I mentioned it gets to the point of stupidity and peoples own personal hatred when you slam the HC after wins.

I agree with you, just too many people point out JG doesn't call the plays when someone questions what was called. Thats not true, its on JG also. Its a cop out to say it was the OC's fault, its on JG too.

Knowing Red isn't listening to anyone's advice on here I have to say everyone needs to remember this is not the first time this team needed to be reminded of what got them to the dance. Running the ball, not getting cute and passing three times in the red zone, remember it got so bad that during the game we could all predict exactly how it would go, pass, pass, run field goal. Then to fool everyone pass, run, play action field goal, would be nice to see a little deviation; like run, play action, run; or play action, run, run; or pass, play action, run. Seems they think play action on third down is the way to go, which means me sitting at home with a bottle of Duesse on the table, a Modelo Negro, in my left hand and rib bone in my mouth am screaming at the tv WTH are you doing? If my dumb azz knows what you're about to do isn't it conceivable the opposing coach that actually knows x's and O's can figure it out!!!

In the Giants game, our beloved Cowboys scored one touchdown and four field goals. The obvious negative in that scenario is that our offense is not finishing drives with 6s instead we are getting 3s. This will kill us when we play Green Bay, Seattle and the rest of the NFC East. We need to be more efficient once we get in the red zone and stop being Redball cute. He has always had a penchant for throwing the ball when he gets in the ten yard and in zone. Earth to Redball, we have a message for you. We have the best power back in the NFL. Use him. The fade route in the corner to Dez is not working. Their defenses know they are coming. Try running the ball. Here is another bulletin, Red. We also have the best O Line in the league. What part of that equation do you not get? Red, you have been a glaring impediment in every game we play. You are the worst, in game, coach the Cowboys have had. You need to step back and let smarter play callers run the offense. Please do not ruin this season and our run to the SB with your predilections to being too cute.
Dez was open on that crossing route. Dak just threw it high. It would've been a TD.

You do know Linenhan and Dak make the calls, right?

You have the argument completely wrong. No one said that Garrett is not to be held accountable. What is being said is to not blame him for playcalling.

If the team gets a lot of penalties, has poor substitutions, shows a poor offensive or defensive gameplan, players fail to develop, show poor effort, poor clock management, or general sloppiness then sure you can pin it on him. People had a point when he iced his kicker or when Rodgers repeatedly caught us trying to sub. No one really argued it was not Garrett.

What we don't see from you guys of the witchhunt is credit for how hard his teams play, their mental toughness when down, the significant improvement on penalties from Phillips time, the switch to a run oriented offense, the improvement in defensive performance, the increase in blitzing, or how year after year his draft picks keep on developing.

You guys have your argument, Garrett sucks, and mindlessly look for anything that confirms your bias. Then you build strawmen and whinge hard like you do here when your attempts are rebutted.

Garrett is the reigning coach of the year and we just won a game by more than 2 scores while holding a team to 3 points. Your crying is out of place even if you do not see why that is.

True, I find it funny that when the offense is producing those same people are the 1st to say Garrett has nothing to do with it, yet if they lose or struggle then it is Garrett. As for the call there is also something called execution and Dez was wide open and it should have been a TD, Dak even points to himself on that. I know people love to call the plays themselves and anything outside their own view is just wrong. Should Dallas have ran it 3 times? I don't think that would be wrong but you still have to execute it. I don't remove blame for Garrett as I said the team and coaches failure are his failure but those wins are his as well. Dallas is 1-0 to start the season, myself I'm pretty happy with that.

Why does it matter how the Cowboys win?

The objective of the game is to win by scoring more points then the other team. It's about the end result, the ending score.

Everything else about how the Cowboys should win or by how much is irrelevant unless you're gambling.

As if winning 19-3 against a team that swept us last year is not good enough and cause for "concern"

I. Don't. Understand. You. People.

true but as HC if he does not like what OC or DC is doing within a game Garrett has the authority to tell them to change things up. He is also very much involved in putting the game plan in place.

This thread after a quality win against a division opponent that swept us last year is beyond lame. That is all.

I'm happy that we won, of course.

We are on a message board, nothing wrong with pointing what can be improved. Everything doesn't have to be sunshine and rainbows. Ever seen Nick Saban after a win??

You would think he lost. Its about improvement.

Or on second down. And the reverse angle on the fade showed that there was a pretty good grab of Dez's facemask going on. Oh well, we won.

True pointing out what things could have been done but to rake him over the coals that is not about constructive criticism that is agenda driven hate. You are right about Saban but then the 1st thing Garrett talked about with the media at post game was there were a lot of areas they need to clean up. They will look at film and see several things that need to be improved. I don't think anyone would say different
