Around this time of year there are a lot of nicked up players on good teams that are not reporting the full extent of their injuries for fear they will miss a playoff run.

Most likely they are the type of injuries that won't prevent a player from staying on the field and doesn't limit him to the degree that there is a huge reduction in performance. They will wait until the offseason to deal with it.

In the case of teams with little to no chance of a postseason, why wait? The sooner the surgery is complete, the quicker they can recover for the next season.

Most likely, Lawrence could play if the situation was critical, and they needed to win for the playoffs and seeding position. Obviously, that is not the case.

Here's one fact that doesn't change -- the best ability is availability. Those refusing to respect that fact aren't respecting their team's needs. Some teams might allow it to happen, but winners must make sure to only keep the players who agree to play when they're able. That's how it works. Losing is a sad alternative. Pro players must observe playing. It's their duty, otherwise, they're useless. Most guys actually care -- some don't.

Smart move for Tank not to play this season, and heal up to give whatever he has left to his new team.

D-Law will say all the right things from now until the end of the season how he wants to remain and finish his career a Dallas Cowboy.

As soon as the season ends and he becomes a free agent (and after Jerry and Stephen offer to retain him for around $7 - $8 million / year on a 2 year contract), he will sign with someone else like the 49ers, Chiefs, Bills, Dolphins, Broncos or Texans for $15 million+ / year on a 3 year deal. Just wait and see.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY WHEN IT COMES TO TODAY'S GREEDY LYING PLAYERS!!!
The kind of culture I'd like for this team to have in the future doesn't have players complaing they were tired or burnt out in the 1st round of the playoffs......DLaw is part of the current spoiled soft culture presently here

This is one thing you never have to worry about. D Flaw is gonna do whatever is best for D Flaw. The team can suck it.
Yeah, I have a feeling it's mutual. I don't want to see him play again this season and that contract is up so...yeah, might see him vs WAS next season.

I love Tank but its feeling like the reality is, its time to move forward. Time to give young players more opportunity and sign some new blood. Same thing with Martin. I think its that time.

I get playing young players, but that should be up to coaching and management. The player is paid millions of dollars to play football, not to take himself out because the playoffs are off the table.

Never was as high on this guy as most people, but this plus the shoulder surgery holdout situation and I'm really ready for him to be gone. Hopefully all Hot Boyz jewelry can melted down in a vat at midfield.
