Ok, you HAD to make me go there:
1a) Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas... 6-2, 216 pounds, 4.4 second 40... the apple of most every team's eye in the next draft...
If it turns out that Julius comes through this year, or if the Browns screw up and produce a good enough record that their pick isn't high enough to get McFadden, acceptable alternatives in the early first round would be OT Jake Long from Michigan, or DT Frank Okam from Texas... until Wade Phillips came along with his special take on the 3-4, I wouldn't have thought that Okam could play NT effectively, but from what I've read of how Wade uses the NT, Frank would be PERFECT in that scheme...
1b) Limas Sweed, WR, Texas... 6-4, 216 pounds... 4.55 second 40... the second coming of Keyshawn Johnson, sans the selfish attitude...
A perfectly acceptable alternative would be big Red Bryant, the DT from Texas A&M-- provided the Boys didn't draft Okam with the earlier pick, of course... this guy's huge...
2) Chris Long, DE, Virginia... 6-4, 286 pounds, 4.8 seconds... the son of Hall of Fame DL Howie Long, he has the physical measurements to play the 3-4 DE, which is the scheme the Cavs run...
I could happily live with QB Colt Brennan from Hawaii here too... Colt is a little on the light side, but has the frame to bulk up, and a gunslinger's attitude I like... in my dreams, someday Longhorns sophomore QB Colt McCoy will be drafted by the Boys, but until then, this Colt will do... like you, I like Andre Caldwell, brother of Reche, in this range too...
3) Quintin Demps, FS, Texas-El Paso... 6-1, 210 pounds, 4.55 second 40... the younger brother of Will Demps, he has the same kind of size and speed... if he turns out to be the same kind of player (and he's had a pretty good career at UTEP thus far), he'd be a solid value here...
Options for this pick include Will Arnold, the big guard from LSU that you mentioned, and Dre Moore from Maryland, who has the size to play DT and the speed to play DE in the 3-4...
4) Doug Legursky, C/OG, Marshall... 6-3, 316 pounds, 5.25 second 40... IMO Legursky is the best center in this draft...
Alternatives here include FB Peyton Hillis from Arkansas, McFadden's lead blocker (who I have seen compared to Moose Johnston) and Louis Holmes from Arizona, a DE/OLB tweener who's as big as Greg Ellis, but faster...
5) Doug Jones, FB/TE, Cincinnati... 6-3, 275 pounds, 4.65 second 40... I'm intrigued by his massive size for the position, yet he still has good speed for a FB... he'd be a linebacker's worst nightmare leading running plays through the hole...
Other choices at this stage-- C Adam Spieker from Missouri, speedy FS Bobbie Williams from Bethune-Cookman or TE Tom Santi from Virginia...
6) Rocky Hinds, QB, UNLV... 6-4, 210, 4.45 second 40... another Isaiah Stanback, that I'd convert to WR, or perhaps S...
Options-- Ricky Santos, QB, New Hampshire (no conversion project here), C/OG Kory Lichtenseiger, Bowling Green, or OG/C Derrick Morse, Miami...
7) Andrew Woodruff, OG, Boise State... 6-2, 325 pounds... 5.15 second 40...
Options-- Josh Williams, ILB, Arkansas State, or Jeremy Jones, ILB, UTEP...
If this draft seems to be heavy on offensive help, that's not by accident...
