2008 and 2009 are sellouts already. Jerry is not concerned with putting people in the stands right now. I'm sure Jerry wants to win and I look forward to seeing what addition we bring to the team but I think the core group of this team is very good and see no reason why we should not be in the thick of it next season.

2008 is a sellout, its the last season in the stadium.

2009 hasnt even been available except in the club level seating yet. And they are having a miserable time selling the seats, according to wfaa and their report this week they only sold 1800 seats so far.

I just want to cut Dough Boy Roy which would remove a whole from this team.
Hamilton is going to cost as a Free agent
I'd rather sign Truffant and pay money for him at CB than pay a FS that kinda money. Let Henry finally make his move where has played great in the past and let Watkins have his shot at Safety.

Resigning flozell and adding Truffant will cost but at worthy money positions.
We need draft picks to step up and play like in San Diego.

I think if we are going to make a big move in FA or exchanging of draft picks it is going to be on the defensive side of the ball.

If we were to give up our 28th pick for Roy Williams and his contract is through next year, do we give him a new deal here, or a new deal next year? If next year I dont know how comfortable that would make me feel having to pay Newman, Ware, Owens, and RW...is that right.

Is Seattle even willing to let Marcus Trufant, it seems to me that they would resign him no doubt.

I think if we make a move it just might be ILB. Maybe Briggs?

I don't think Jerry is worried about putting people in the seats and I don't think players taken will be done so because of tickets. I think as always Jerry wants to win.

Yeah but if you cut both safeties, then who will play Strong Safety? I'm guessing a rookie. But I don't know if I'd trust a rookie on a team that is close to the SB, and we've had a night-mareish string of bad years at the safety position, and then we see how good Hamlin played, not only played but a playmaker, I don't know if I want to get rid of Hamlin.

We're not that far away at all, especially in the NFC.

But what we do need is more veteran leadership.

More guys who have won in the playoffs before.

And I still think we need to get 1 vet WR along side our rookie draft picks.

And I still think we need 1 solid 3rd CB to complement TNew and Henry.

If we also sign Hamlin and Flo with these FA pick-ups, we're in great shape heading into the Draft and into next season.
I agree with everything you just said.

Just how good is Brown and Ball? Could they step up into being better then Reeves next season? Any good FA CB is going to cost BIG MONEY. We keep Hamlin for sure. A ILB who can blitz is a must I think. I would love To steal Roy Williams from Detroit; and then keep developing Stanback. We have plenty of young Tackles- if we can get Flo for a reasonable prize keep him and try McQ at LG. Pick up a decent change of pace RB somewhere in the 3rd rd. We find a way to do all that and we are as good as we can get.

JJ should be thinking we're close, cause we are and should've been there this year.

this reason more than any is why the Cowboys need that leader in the locker room/sidelines. This team has not had that since Irvin left. I am not sure anybody on the current roster can fill that void. Unless Spencer becomes that leader, but he may be "too young" of a player. Which is why I am not sure a rookie can come in and fill that roll. This would have to be found thru free agency I believe. Or maybe a trade, but what team would trade away a team leader?

What I'd consider is getting a solid number 3 CB in FA. A dependable CB who is capable of starting in a pinch.

In the Draft, I'd use one of the 1st rounders on another CB to develop as a starter a year down the road.

So, we'd have TNew, Henry, FA acquisition, Round 1 Draft pick, and then Ball and Oglesby (sp?) battle it out for the number 5 position.

even though everyone is gonna hate me for saying this

I think we should bring back Jacque Reeves, he isn't going to command much and would give us great depth as the #4 corner

We are more than one big move away, we got a bunch of contracts that are up. Assuming we re-sign the top guys, we need 2 wr's, 1 solid cb, and a decent rb to help carry the load with Barber...

I agree with that, plus he is a very good special teams player.

You wont find a 4 any better so if he is willing to stay here for the minimum you can offer him...then by all means resign him.

I don't hate you for it. If they can bring him back cheap to be the 4th corner that would be alright with me. Just so long as he's not on the field as a starter or in the nickel defense. I think he'd be ok at 4 and maybe we'd even luck out and one of the guys from last year would step up and move reeves to a 5 for us.

I think Reeves would play better if he's not sitting back 10-15 yards, as you're supposed to read plays well to effectively defend in that coverage, and he just can't

when it is zone and he does that I want to scream. When it is man-off coverage I can understand, most teams and corners play that deep in that man-off look.

I just cant stand the way he is seemingly always waiting for the guy to catch the ball so he can tackle them....instead of reacting to the ball in the air and being aggressive.

the one time he does it ware gets called for offsides and a few plays later toomer scores.

which do we run more? zone, or man-off?

they should just switch to a man-coverage scheme, hell, Wade prefers that scheme

I really dont know off the top of my head. When newman and henry were in there it seemed we did play some man, but it appeared be mostly zone in the secondary all year.

to play man all the time you have to be very good outside and very good at safety.

it probably was more zone, then, that's what it looked like to me, but I'm no defensive, call expert

we're very good outside and very good at one S spot, I don't see what the problem is

lack of better depth? having Roy at SS?

Just goes to show you how bad our luck was, and our QB play, while he was here cause he's went to Tampa and been very productive.
