Remember a few weeks ago when Jimmy Johnson, while promoting his book, “Swagger”, said this was the best Cowboys team he’s ever seen? Then we promptly go and lay an egg in Green Bay.

We got humbled and then walked into arguably one of the best team’s home turf and played the best game possibly ever. I like our team playing with a chip on their shoulder.
Losing in OT is not laying an egg, wasnt blowout or loss end to end..the defense blew a big lead..thats not laying an egg like say the Denver game last year, that was no one showing up.. our offense got out to a 28-14 lead in the 4th on te road and that should be a win..an egg laid, not even close. tough loss , yes.

Not entirely true.. Zeke showed up.. Moore just refused to give him the ball for reasons only he can explain. He averaged over 5 ypc that day but only got 10 totes. Games like that one and the Tampa game earlier this year.. Zeke getting over 5 ypc but barely getting the ball give me nightmares about what we're going to do in the playoffs.

still my point

the GB was not an egg game Moreso the Denver and TB, yes..regarldess of Zeke, those were terrible team games. The GB game was not, we simply let that get away.,

Absolutely true. It was a blown lead stemming from basically one bad quarter (with a lot of help from the refs). Especially from the defense. It happens.. I'm not going to overreact to it. Like I keep saying.. I believe the 4th quarter and OT the penalty count was Cowboys 7 - GB 0. You aint beatin nobody once the refs decide to enforce the rules to the letter against you but let the opponent commit outright assault with no consequences.

NFL Champions are usually forged in November and December. The winners of the last 4 SBs all had 4-5 losses after 10-12 games, then they all got red hot in November and December, riding that momentum all the way to a Lombardi.

The Cowboys sit now at 8-3, fresh off two wins over teams with winning records and fresh off finally winning their Thanksgiving Day game for the first time since 2018. The remaining 6 games will determine how this postseason sets up for this team. These are the remaining regular season games:
  • Colts at home
  • Texans at home
  • @Jags
  • Eagles at home
  • @Titans
  • @Commanders
If the Cowboys could either win out or go 5-1 in the remaining 6 games, they still have a legit shot at the division and possibly the #1 seed.

If we end up a Wild Card team, this team will need to prove something they haven’t done in 30 years: Win a playoff game on the road. (Last road playoff win was under Jimmy Johnson in ‘92 NFC Championship game!)

So we absolutely don’t need any “Super Bowl talk” from any of the Jones boys. This team needs to do their talking on the field.

NOW is the time to prove it. It’s all there for the taking.
4 to 5 losses after 10 to 12 games... That's a wide range:
Worst 5-5
Best 8-4

Reviewing the past 10 SB winners:
Only 1 with 4 losses after 10 games. All others had less.

There were 9 of 10 with more losses in the 2nd half of the season than the 1st half.

Note: I did the review manually from my phone. If interested, please double-check my numbers.

This has been this franchise's achilles heel since Emmitt, Mike and Troy retired. Just not mentally strong enough to focus in come playoff time. Frankly I have very little doubt that the 2014 probably goes up to Seattle and molly whops the Seahawks again if they get past Green Bay.. And all Romo has to do is hit the open guy for the first down on 4th and 2 instead of the yolo throw to Dez. Yes he caught it, but the smarter play would have been take the first down.. Keep grinding on that defense that had not stopped Murray all day, and score the game winning TD with about 5 seconds left on the clock so you know who has no chance to come back and beat you.

Then the 2016 team was good but too young and inexperienced. When they were moving the ball late in that game and Zeke had ripped off a nice run into the red zone they hurried to the line and ran that stupid WR screen that got picked off. Again the smart play would have been to keep handing the ball to Zeke. The Packers had about as much chance of stopping him that day as they had stopping Murray two years before. Then later in the game it happened again.. They drove down into scoring position and spike the ball before setting up the FG. Again why? If you were going to spike it, then do so with 5 seconds left.. not a minute or so. Should have handed it to Zeke 2-3 more times THEN kicked the FG. Assuming the Packers even stopped Zeke from housing it on their arses. The mental stuff has haunted this franchise for over 2 decades. I am nervous that it's going to get them again in the end. I pray I'm wrong.

The best method to increase the probability of winning in the playoffs and advancing to the Super Bowl is to get to the playoffs more often.

New England won 6 with Brady but the made the playoffs in 17 of Brady's 19 seasons as the starter.
- i.e. They didn't win the SB in 11 of 17 post season appearances.

since dallas is most likely a wc team, they will be on the road for all games, which doesnt bode well does it?
If the Cowboys could either win out or go 5-1 in the remaining 6 games........yeah possible, but 4-2 more likely.
Or if things go usually, maybe 3-3.
I think the last 3 should be toughest, but you never know, they might win those and lose the 1st 3 .

The e-girls were crowned in late September, lol. Looking forward to knocking that paper crown off their head.
They managed to beat GB , we didn’t .
So until we get division crown ( back to back hasn’t been done in a while ) or go wildcard and beat a playoff team on the road we need to wait.

yeah but that is being consistent year after year. Bill runs the show there, here we have the 2 hillbillys and puppet HC's
Dallas has never been consistent since jimmy left.
Also it is better to get to sb in consecutive years, that way same team with the experience usually wins it

100% agree. There is such a thing as “organizational momentum” which happens when you consistently make the playoffs.

We haven’t had back to back playoff years since 06-07, so we have a chance to show some consistency for the first time in a while.

In high school and college football, the fastest way to rebuild and maintain a strong program is to make the playoffs (HS) or make a bowl game (college) because it gives your team a ton of extra practice time beyond the regular season. High school and college programs that consistently have post season opportunities have longevity of relevance because they get that extra practice and game experience. Same principle in the pros. We just need to make the playoffs consistently so as you said, we greatly increase our chances to win it all.

Only 6 of the past 30 Super Bowls was won by a team that had been in (winner or loser) the SB the previous season.

Only 1 SB loser won it the following season (Past 30 Super Bowls).

It's gotten to the point where I'm truly asking myself if not this year, then when?
Because in my eyes, the leaguewide parity this year has about 6 to 8 teams that could win it all if they got hot.
Dallas is one of them.

Man, another one and done would piss me off.
Fingers crossed.
With our dominating defense and offense clicking, it is there for the taking. I feel better about this year than any other, sans 2016 when I thought we had lightning in a bottle.

Go Cowboys!!

We still have 6 games to go and it’s going to take more than 8 wins to make the playoffs. We’re not even close to sewing up a playoff spot yet.

haha other teams have to won 3 or 4 more out of their last 6 than we do. Three wins out of six ggets us in.

..the exciting part, well as frightening one.

Will find out soon enough. I do feel better about this team though, then last year.

Lots of speculation rides the team. From MM to who's staying and going.

10 wins should get us in, but a lot of crazy things could still happen. The Cowboys chances of winning the NFC East are not looking real good being 2 games down to a 10-1 team with 6 games left. The Cowboys would pretty much have to win out to overtake the Eagles. Philly would have to lose to the Cowboys, and lose one more game for the Cowboys to overtake them in the NFC East. There’s three wild cards with 7 teams with 5 or more wins. The Cowboys have a pretty tough schedule the remainder of the season with Philly, Tennessee, and Washington on the road in the season finale. All three will be difficult games to win plus Indy, Houston and Jacksonville aren’t going to be pushovers. If the Cowboys were to slip up against one or more of those weaker teams, they could be in some real trouble if some of these other 5 win teams start stringing wins together. There’s a number of scenarios that can happen in the NFC in the next 6 games. so I wouldn’t be handing the Cowboys a playoff spot just yet. Plus all three of the Cowboys losses this season are conference losses, which factor in tiebreakers.
