Dez was the obvious priority but Crawford is due next year and Fred presumably the year after following his 5th year option being picked up. This is where the team has really struck paydirt by signing guys like Ratliff, Church, Scandrick and Beasley in their first 4 years.

Smith set the tone for lucrative deals that don't hamstring the team and Dez signing for $14m per on a cap nearing $170m is not too far off that mark. Keep this train rolling.

you really have to hope Randy Gregory and Demarcus Lawrence become play makers because Dallas really can't afford another mega deal and Hardy will want big contract after season.

Dallas will likely save 6m on the cap with the Dez deal

I would like to see a 4/24m deal for Crawford.

He hasn't made big money so he might jump at a deal.

Tyron only makes $10m for the next several years. Scandrick and Witten are paid under market value. While Dez will probably be billed as setting a new market, he isn't paid close to what the top WR makes. Romo's $17m is looking very reasonable nowadays. Carr is an easy cap casualty in coming years. We're not as hamstrung as you think.

I also think that even if he blows up this year and has 15+ sacks, Hardy isn't going to make Suh/Houston money. His baggage is what it is.

to be blunt I want to see more from Crawford before ponying up big money.

I think youre missing the point. I'm talking about paying him a deal like Ratliff got after his rookie deal. If he doesn't improve and only gives you 3 sacks a season and solid run defense then it might be a slight overpay but if you can sign him to $7m AAV you do it.

You just hope he doesn't pull a Ratliff if he blows up and set expectations as a managed risk.

I just do not think he is worth any serious money. More flash then substance.

I don't think signing Hardy would be a problem for the cap.

By the time many young players are getting big money Romo will likely be gone. Zack Martin will not be a true free agent until after the 2018 season.

The Cowboys have been reducing dead money each year but are stil at 12M this year. That could be near zero in a year or two. Also, the NFL cap is continuing to increase.

I think your right about Hardy, however I still think your looking somewhere in the 12-14 per year ballpark.

I'm just worried to death about the 2017 draft.

Any corners available? Who do we want?

Jones is key. If he ultimately becomes a #1 CB the position isnt as dire as it could be. We still need depth
