Elite pass rush production for 80% of the cost seems palatable to me.

For me it depends on what we get from Gregory and Lawrence this season. If Gregory stuggles to keep weight on and Lawrence looks like an Anthony Spencer type, then keeping Hardy makes more sense as that gives us a top notch DE crew and we can cover up warts the other two may have

However if both look like legit 10+ sack guys I would prefer to let Hardy walk

That's fair. We need to see how he fares after so much time off either way.

I think your right about Hardy, however I still think your looking somewhere in the 12-14 per year ballpark.

I wonder if both sides would be open to another one year deal? Hardy may like to have a full/non-rusty year under his belt and another year away from the scandal before he goes for his big career contract and we might like one more year of Gregory as a situational pass rusher before he is ready to start full time.

I would like to see a deal too,if he takes the next step like everybody expects him too then he will be really hard to sign.Eagles will have a tough time signing Fletcher Cox but we can probably sign Crawford to a good team friendly deal now.

After seeing what the NYG did with their pass rushers, I think keeping Hardy would give them the best chance to win Super Bowls.

For the Cowboys I agree. If I'm Crawford I think long and hard about signing anything.

comes down to how important money is to him and how much he believes in himself. If the later he waits until after this year to sign ANY deal.

Exactly. He was pretty good last year and the team knows it, but not so good that he is going to earn a monster contract. He could sign something reasonable like Scandrick did a few years ago, but then REALLY break out and outplay the contract.

If I'm him, I ride out 2015 and bet on myself. The defense is looking to shape up really nicely and will create opportunities. He will be looking to be next year's franchise tag and get into negotiations. Not to mention if he DOES have a great year, it isn't as though it's one year - he really would hvae two good seasons on his name.

He has 'only' made 2.7m for his 4 years, so he might jump at 10m signing bonus on a 4/24m deal.

I would think that the first question on the table is just how much cap relief is now freed up with this signing now. Then into the immediate future to allow some increased flexibility even before an issue of Hardy is considered. et al - Crawford.

Dez' deal frees up almost 6m this year and leaves DAL with almost 12m in space if Hardy remains at 4 games missed.

Once the season starts DAL will be around 9m under the cap.

But with Dez under contract at 14 per, that means DAL went from around 26m under the 2016 cap to around 14m under. It will take some work to keep Dez, Hardy, Crawford, McClain and a CB. But Carr might be gone and Romo, TSmith and Witten can always be restructured. And there is the possibility of 5m in rollover space

He did have a year where he sat out with the Achilles to think about his future or lack there of. I would bet that he is not that keen on betting with his future and willing to at least take a long hard look at some guaranteed money to secure his future.

You mean no one was counting Dez's franchise tag in the 2016 cap estimates?

I think youre missing the point. I'm talking about paying him a deal like Ratliff got after his rookie deal. If he doesn't improve and only gives you 3 sacks a season and solid run defense then it might be a slight overpay but if you can sign him to $7m AAV you do it.

You just hope he doesn't pull a Ratliff if he blows up and set expectations as a managed risk.

In theory that great but not likely he is taking a deal for 7 mil a year
He is a guy worth trying
Too soon for Fred
You want to get as many years out of the rookie deal as you can
