I think that some of the roster spots are more likely for draft picks to make it, and I'd say that 46 of the spots would be a major surprise if the following weren't on the roster. This is the 53 man roster, and I'd hope that we'd agree that all these 46 will make the team. (I've included Hunter Leupke as a free agent, simply for pass protection reasons, the rest aren't great at it.)

So, given these virtual locks... who fights for the remaining roster spots?
CB DaRon Bland
CB Trevon Diggs
CB Stephon Gilmore
CB Jourdan Lewis
CB Eric Scott Jr.
DB - S Markquese Bell
DB - S Jayron Kearse
DB - S Israel Mukuamu

I'm not convinced those 46 are given roster spots.

I see at least a couple of names that better show up and make plays every day this summer or they will be goners.

I've love to see a couple of trades even if they only generated 4th-6th rounders. Cowboys seem to find players then.

Yep, I agree. We have to trade some people.

You left out Jalen Tolbert, he’s going to be in a battle for a roster spot. I know he was a 3rd round pick just last year, but he wasn’t even good enough to be activated for 8 games his rookie season. If he’s not good enough to make the game day roster this season he’s not going to be here.

Theoretically it should be every player. Looks like some excess in the trenches though.

Isn't that great, that the competition is so fierce? There's some value in targeting players in a certain mold. I'd say that Javon Kearse, Marquise Bell, Donovan Wilson and Overshown are very similar types of players, at different stages in their career. Dallas has a great mix of youth and experience in this type of player, and one of them will be released in the next few years. However the role that each plays will be won by the best of the best.

You're right, Houston shouldn't be a lock, but I don't know how he didn't make the team. there's going to be an interesting competition for those last receiver spots.
I hesitated on Bohanna as making the team, but since Mazi Smith is the new direction of this defense, I'd bet Bohanna sticks because of the true nose tackle that he is, the only one who can backup Mazi.

Yes, I'd like to keep Odigizuwa and Gholston, but they are a stark contrast to Mazi Smith, maybe a necessary contrast? I don't know.

There’s certain players that are locks regardless how it goes for them in training game, due to money and their value to the team.

Injuries will save a few. That’s become our second practice squad lol

I have always thought it is nutz to waste a roster spot on a deep snapper. There has to be someone on the team that in addition to their normal position could learn to deep snap as well. Center seems like an obvious choice.

I will go a step further and say there has to be a kicker out there that could handle punting the ball too. Imagine having two extra roster spots that other teams don't.
