Cassel has been a turn over machine in the past. That cant happen.

Randy Gregory. The DL was all over Brady who is rarely pressured. They'll feast on the Giants line. Gregory got past Flowers with ease in Week 1. Beckham Jr. probably won't be 100 percent so I like our chances even without Dez.

I kinda do too - but with the huge caveat that we have to get remotely competent QB play. But Eli is a dead man.

If Dez doesn't play, Giants will win a laugher.
If Dez does play, we will still need an excellent game by the defense (including the 4th quarter) and for Cassel to avoid turnovers....then we have a chance.

Laugher? I really don't know how you expect the Giants to have success on offense against our defense. I really don't. When Gregory gets back, this defensive line is going to be darn near impossible to deal with. The Giants may win, but this defense (with Gregory) will always keep us in games. Unless Cassel is completely worthless, which he may be.

Only makes sense....Do the math....guy been in the system 3+ years...vs guy that has been in it 3 weeks....let's roll w/ the guy w/ 3 weeks. Only in Dallas does this make sense. I'm gonna laugh when Cassel falls on his face...and panic sets in....All this trouble could have been avoided if they had just went with Kellen from the get go. He may not have won every game....but he sure wouldn't have dug this hole the team is in now. And it sure as hell isn't gonna be fair for them to ask Kellen to dig them out of it either. If Cassell comes in and loses the next 2...you might as well kiss the year off. The next 2 weeks make or break the year.

Based on what?

If you say college then you automatically get bumped out of any football conversation concerning NFL play from here on out.

What has he done, in the pro game, that would warrant the idea that he wouldn't have dug them an 0-3 hole these last three games?

Explain to me why this guy is so mistreated that he hasn't been able to get above the 3 spot not only in Dallas but also couldn't Detroit either?

I'd like some actual, credible, evidence to those questions.

lol you mean that defense that's given up 30 ppg the last three games? You mean THAT defense? You don't possibly see how the Giants can score on that defense? Really?

You act like this defense is the 85 Bears and 02 Bucs rolled into one. Give me a break.

Yes, really. You see, I have this ability to look beyond the blatantly obvious history you felt compelled to point out. I have the ability to see that this defense IS in fact coming together and project what their level of success will be in the future. You point out 30 ppg in the last three games. I would point to the fact that a significant bookend pass rusher (Gregory) was not in any of those games. I would point out that Hardy and Ro were not playing in two of those games. I would point out that Sean Lee was not playing for an extended period of one game because of concussion issues. I would point out that the defense was absolutely taking it to the Patriots until the offense withered up and died. And I would point out that all of these players are going to be back, healthy and working together for two straight weeks before they play the Giants.

But you keep pointing out that the sky is blue. Your level of analysis is truly inspiring.

I know this is traditional message board sarcasm, but sorry to say it's the truth. Jones Fractures are a 6-8 week injury, with surgeries involving a bone graft always coming out on the later side. You also don't have a stem cell injection when you're less than two weeks from practice availability. He was in a boot on the sidelines Sunday so while he's making progress in his rehab this isn't the case of a player just waiting to have his restraints cut off and be rip roaring to go. I know Doctor Jerry is good at pumping air in everyones tires when it comes to medical recovery times, but that just isn't how the surgery works.

So if/when he suits up and plays against NY without incident, what will you have to say then?

Your original post included statements that indicate you have some insider knowledge or access to Dez and the status of his injury and rehab. Now you're speaking in generalities. Don't back off now doc.

If Dez Bryant plays in this game, he is going to take it upon himself to carry the team. We didn't need that against Arizona, but we do need it here and now and he knows it. He has missed time and he is mad at himself for it, I'm sure. He will unleash on the Giants similarly to how Hardy unleashed on the Patriots.

Oh and maybe Garrett and Linehan will actually put together a game plan during the bye week.

First of all, I hate to be the debbie downer here but Dez didn't exactly light up the Giants in game 1. Causing a distraction helps open the field but so does Julio Jones, OBJ, Cobb, etc and they still find ways to make plays. Having said that, they won't have Amukumara. Even if we don't have Dez, we should be lighting up that secondary, no excuses. I don't care who our QB is, the Giants are dead last in the league in pass defense and they have zero pass rush.

The Giants defense this year reminds me of our defense last year. They don't have a lot of wow players, but they all swarm and attack the ball and generate turnovers.

Our defense last year was middle-of-the-pack in yards allowed and No. 2 in the league in turnovers forced.

The Giants' defense this year is near the bottom in yards allowed and in the middle of the pack in turnovers forced.

About the only thing they do well is stop the run.

Cassel should definitely have some opportunities to prove himself out there. That pass defense is terrible and just lost their best player in the secondary.

Their abysmal pass defense and lack of pass rush is just about the perfect scenario for Matt to walk into with this OL and hopefully Dez returning. His first game against a defense like that, is setting up the most optimal opportunity to make some plays and gain some confidence going into the next few games.

I also expect Randle and possibly McFadden to have some big gains on some underneath routes. If CMIKE can prove he can catch the ball and play physically, he could do some damage on the same routes with the weaknesses they have at LB and secondary.

I'll be thrilled if he plays against the Giants. My original post gave no direct or indirect claim to insider access to Dez. I certainly have the resources to judge where he's at in terms of readiness based on what the team released, and on that front I'm fairly certain we won't see him verse the Giants. Not because of anything Dez has done wrong, just based on how these things typically go. But again, in no way did I claim to have insider access to Dez here.

No. Its not the truth. Its speculation. There is zero evidence out there that it is a Jones fracture. The time tables that the Cowboys gave make it unlikely to be a Jones fracture, unless you they were just blowing smoke. If they really thought it was going to be 10+ weeks, which is the normal timeframe of a Jones I suspect they would have put him on the IR/Designated that week. ESPN and twitter docs started saying Jones the second that it happened, before XRays were probably shot. I doubt ESPN or twitter docs have ever seen any of Dez's film, so they can't really diagnose anything with accuracy. If Dez is back in the next two weeks then it pretty much can't be a Jones fracture.

Watch and see. The Giants offense is a juggernaut. First time around they scored plenty, and Romo won on what was a miracle finish. Eli and his receivers and RBs vs our backup QB, receivers without Dez, and RB is a total mismatch. Our only chance of scoring enough to beat Eli is if Dez is out there to open up things for everyone else, and even then I fear Cassell will not know his receivers well enough to anticipate. We need Dez and ball protection.

Their offense scored a grand total of 9 points outside of gifted turnover points. Did you even watch the game?

The fact that he was even on the field probably shows that it wasn't a Jones fracture. One poster on here said the Cowboys did come out and say it was a Jones though but I haven't seen that.

Just watch how Eli handles a good pass rush in Philly and you'll get a taste of what will happen next Sunday.
