It counts just as much as week 8 as far as I'm concerned

the giants are a good team. they got the best pass rush in the division right now. they play division opponents better than we do. we will have a tough time holding them off for the division title

How do you figure? We beat them and they were down 17-3 vs the Skins at halftime.

I'd imagine he's basing that off last year. If you base it off that, he's definitely right.

We were 1-5 in our division last year. We only lost 2 games outside the division (one to 2006's abysmal Lions...). So, we were 8-2 in games outside the division - pretty damn good. If you go 8-2 outside your division, you should probably win your division, however, we have quite a hard time with our division opponents. It's not an easy division, admittedly, but I think we do tend to struggle with the teams in our division moreso than the Giants, and I'd not be surprised to see that continue this year.

It's sad (and kind of crazy) to think that had we just broke even last year in our division (basically if we just won all of our home games, and lost all of our away games), we would've been an 11-5 football team.

We were 2-4 in the division last year, but it's not like that's much of a step up from 1-5 anyway.

Basically, we can't lose twice to Philly or the Skins.

After reading your posts over the last couple months, I have a question for you. Is it your logic to put "stock" in games that the Cowboys lose while placing "no stock" in games that they win?

The Giants must be terrible because we haven't beaten any decent teams yet, and we beat them.

look the giants are a different team than the one we played in week 1. the cowboys are also a different team. i don't put alot of stock into week one games because teams aren't playing to there full potential. some teams are learning new systems(giants and boys on defense). take for example a few years ago the bills beat the pats 31-0 in week 1. the pats went on to win the freaking superbowl.

For "not putting a lot of stock into week one games," you sure do use our Week 1 game A LOT to support your arguments AGAINST our defense.

It's funny how much stock you put into that game when it suits your argument, isn't it?

No doubt, teams should improve throughout the season, but we're looking for patterns here, tendencies that manifest themselves on a weekly basis.

For instance, one pattern has been the Cowboys' excellent play on offense. They've moved the ball well every week since week 1, and there's no reason that pattern shouldn't continue.

Undoubtedly, the Giants have improved on defense, especially pressure on the passer; however, the Cowboys' O-line has excelled at pass blocking, and Romo has proven capable of avoiding even the more intimidating pass rushes.

Ergo, I see no reason to classify Dallas' week 1 offensive output an aberration. They've moved the ball well all season thus far.

As of now they are 10 points lesser than Dallas on the scoreboard and that's what they are.

And I don't put much stock in what the Gints have done against really bad teams.

What pisses me off about these mediots is when ripping on our defense they always mention Gints putting 35 points on our defense yet when hyping up how great Gints defense is they never mention the fact we put 45 on the Gints defense.

I agree whole 100%. It makes me wonder why it happens. I'd have a hard time believing they just hate Dallas, so who really knows. If they hate Dallas they sure all do want to hire Ex-Cowboys on their shows.

Yeah, but you can't put too much stock in us scoring 45 points on them, because it was only Week 1. However, them scoring 35 points on us shows how weak our defense really is.

If you listen to some people, that is.

Yeah, the NFL should just throw out the first game of the season for all teams. It doesn't mean anything.

The G-Men and Osi are living off the anomoly that was the Eagles game......that's what happens when you dominate in a primetime game, even if the opponent is weak and feable. Didn't westbrook sit out that game, as well as L.J. Smith?

the last 2 years the cowboys have started off average to above average and than folded in november and december. i'm not saying week 1 doesn't matter because it clearly does. but trying to measure a how good a team is playing at midseason by going back and looking at the 1st game isn't the best way in my opinion. It's not how you start it's how you finish
