I went to law school at Ole Miss so I can speak on Eli first hand... he is a great, not just good QB. He single handedly took a very average program and won the freakin Cotton Bowl. The year after he left, almost everyone else returned and they only won 5 games and missed going to any bowl game. He is going to be very, very good in the NFL.

You probably didn't watch the Giants-Cardinals game, which is understandable considering it was on at the same time as the Cowboys game.

You did a pretty good job of contradicting yourself though. Eli's performance last night wasn't impressive because it's easier to pass when you're getitng blown out, but then when the Giants are blowing out the Cardinals, suddenly that means the Giants pass D stinks?

No Pass rush? Michael Strahan? 2.5 sacks in 3 games already, holds the sack record for a season. Osi Umenyiora on the other end is emerging as a good pass rusher as well, with 7 sacks last year in his 2nd year, and 2 already this year. He played opposite DeMarcus Ware at Troy State and in HS. The Giants had 7 sacks in the first two weeks of the season, same as us. They didn't get any sacks against the Chargers bascially because of the way the Chargers played. The passing game wasn't really used, and when it was, it was quick drops. Brees attempted 22 passes against them, 35 against us. We had 2 sacks on Brees.

Eli basically beat us last year, and he's been impressive this year outside the Cardinals game, not sure why he still has a long way to go to scare you.

Watched the whole game, it was on in hi def and the Cowboys game wasn't. So I had the Giants on the big screen and the Cowboys on the regular TV. And I saw a game where the Giants were trailing at the half and then came out to score quickly and take a big lead after halftime. So don't act as if they were blowing that game out from the beginning. They were in a dog fight with the Cards until special teams bailed them out and the Cards remembered who they were. Those same Cards still haven't won a game and get blown out every week, sorry if I find that win less than impressive.

As for their inability to sack Brees. They have managed to sack Kurt Warner, wow that's impressive... the Giants got rid of him last year because he stood around and took sacks standing there like a deer in the headlights. He stunk then and he stinks now. Sacking him is less than impressive. We managed to get to Brees twice in 35 attempts, they should have at least gotten to him once in 22 attempts - they didn't even get close.

And yes, Eli beat us last year - big deal? Who didn't beat us last year? That's why we revamped the entire defense, because EVERYONE beat us last year. Last night was the first game he's been asked to win for the Giants this year. It was the first game where the special teams didn't score for him or the other team didn't turn the ball over half a dozen times. It was the first game where the other team dared him to beat them because they weren't going to be beaten by the run - and he fell 3 TDs short. He also had an interception for a TD called back because of a penalty, and he had another dropped.

He had a pretty good game last night. But it was no better than Vinny had against the Eagles or the Pack last year. Does that make Vinny a good QB too?

Down the road he'll probably be very good. Right now he's still a young QB, and he's going to make mistakes and cost the team games. By the time he really comes into his own they are going to need to replace the RB, half the guys on D, and Toomer. And they traded away draft picks to get him from SD so they are going to have to work hard to find replacements for those guys. With what the Giants gave up for him, he'd BETTER be great or they are screwed.

If you go back and reread my post, I never said the Cards win was impressive. I even said that it was the only game where Eli didn't really look too good. You said that the Cardinal Passing game lit them up which was a direct contradiction to the point you made about Eli loading up against a defense in prevent.

Who cares who they sacked? You said they have no pass rush, which is the act of putting pressure on the QB. I don't care if it's Kurt Warner or Dan Marino.

Well which is it? Does their defense suck or does Eli/the offense suck? You keep saying their pass rush, their pass D, etc., sucks, and then you turn around and point out all the turnovers they're causing (even though you phrased it as the other team giving it away). Teams have been "Daring" him to beat them for a year now. You think they have just been ignoring Tiki until this past game? The defense was the reason they lost last night, not Eli.

Going back to last year, in his last 6 games, Eli has performed well in 4 games, and average in the other two. Before the last 3 games last year, he was absolutely putrid. He's showing a ton of improvement, there's no reason not to believe he's becoming a very good QB/

They found it a little tougher when their "road" games are actually in the other team's stadium.

I didn't contradict myself at all, I never stated that it would always be easier to pass if you are behind. Sometimes, depending on the team you are facing and QB you have, it could be harder to pass when you are trailing big. But sometimes it could be a lot easier. There is no contradiction there, maybe you should go back and reread my post - because I never said that you can always pass easier if you are getting blown out.

Some defenses will come after you and pound you when they know you are going to pass. Some will sit back and allow completions because they know you aren't going to win anyway.

And you responded by bringing up their seven sacks. So apparently YOU care who they sacked. They managed to get to the statue formerly known as Curt Warner a whopping 3 times. They got to Brees 0 times. Their big game getting to the QB came against a team forced to travel to Giants stadium against their will, for a 'home game' where they were the visitors. It was obvious from the get go that the Saints wanted nothing to do with that game, and I can't blame them - it was a farce. You can put a lot of stock in that if you like, to me that whole thing was a joke.

Why do I have to choose? Their D is questionable, their O is too. On D you can talk about 'all the turnovers they have caused' but let's look at them - they netted 2 turnovers against the mighty Cards (who have turned the ball over 6 times in 3 games). They managed to take the ball from the Chargers exactly 1 time. So all the turnovers they caused came in that farce of a game against the Saints - a Saints team that turned the ball over 4 more times on Sunday against a Vikings D that nobody is calling opportunistic. Maybe, just maybe, the Saints are struggling because of outside factors, and throwing them in Giants stadium for their first 'home' game probably didn't help. You want to heap kudos on the Giants for that game, feel free. But it's going to be a long season for you waiting for more performances like that from the Giants.

He is becoming a very good QB, but he's not there yet. He's still vulnerable to the mistakes of youth, and a good D will exploit that. SD was a learning experience for him, and he learned that he's going to have to do a lot more to keep his team in a shootout.

Eli is in a good situation. He has Tiki, a veteran WR corps and Shockey so he isn't in the usual horrid offense around 1 high draft pick at QB. The problem is expectation are very high and the room for error gets smaller each week. Whats acceptable now becomes much less so with each passing week and NY is a tough town to underachieve in.

The Giants like 20 other teams are just up and down. The defense has some talent but they also have really sad series where theyc an't stopt he run or pass and just get gashed.

Its really a parity-filled league. I am not sure either SB team even makes the playoffs at this rate. Yes both are 2-1 but have serious injury concerns and a tough schedule in front of them.

Say whatever the Giants game will be a tough game to win. Eli has not yet played a full season and look how far along he is. We will be playing against him for many years to come. he will be a force to reckon with.

Couldn't have said it better.

Well, maybe I could've.:p:

The NFC East is really shaping up again.
