Observations from a Dallas Fan Living in Denver

That was probably Joe Williams. 850 KOA.

2233boys is talking about FM1430 The Fan. That's where Joe Williams is paired with Irv Brown in the afternoons.

Sandy Clough is one of the morning hosts. Probably the most knowledgeable and fairminded of the group. He and his co-host called Dallas the class of the NFC but they still place them behind NE, Indy, SD and perhaps Jax lest you think they believe we're all-world. I think that is a fair assessment given how none of us really know how things will fall together in any given year.

Clough also said that he felt Denver was largely demoralized by Dallas last preseason which got their season going in the wrong direction. Dallas visit this year is clearly regarded by these radio hosts as some sort of benchmark for Denver. They are much more concerned about how they fare vs us than vice-versa.

Joe Williams is anything but a Bronco "fan." He is cast as somewhat the Bronco naysayer of the group. It sometimes borders on schtick for him. The sportstalk guys are pretty fair and realistic.

Bronco fans however tend to be overly optimistic about their team and start to believe they are SB bound whenever they win a few games. Its fairly humorous when they crash back to earth.

Sportstalk hosts here know the loss of Elam to Atlanta in free agency was a very big loss, replaced by total unproven no-name Matt Prater.

I thought the Irv and Joe show was on 850, either before or after Logan.

Nope. They have been on The Fan for years...

KOA may still be the home of the Broncos (for games) butI don't know that they have any "sportstalk" to speak of anymore.

You're both right (sort of) -- in the last year, the Fan moved from an AM station (AM 950) to an FM station 104.3. They're still a couple of old farts, though. :laugh2:

Na Elam was cut

Nope, I think Elam is in Atlanta, as speedkilz said. Pat Bowlen, owner of the Broncos was asked why he didn't get more involved in keeping Elam aboard. He said that Elam was only going to play one more year anyway and would ultimately live in Atlanta when he retired, so why not chase more money for a final year? Or something like that.

Unless Atlanta cut him of course.
