Observations two games in

"Bennett said. "Everybody loved Witten so much. I thought they wanted me to be exactly like him. But that wasn’t my game. There are a lot of things Witten does well. And there are a lot of things that I do well that he doesn’t do. I think they loved that model of a tight end that they tried to pressure me to be exactly like him.
"Me and Eli are a lot closer than I was with (Tony) Romo," Bennett said. "I think Romo is a great quarterback. And I think he’s done some great things for the Cowboys. But I just think his relationship with Witten is one of those special things they were able to build.

Maybe jealousy wasn't the right word. But he made it pretty clear why he left. He was envious of Witten's role, if not of Jason himself. He wanted to be the guy, he said it over and over. I don't think he would have stayed even had we given him a nice offer.

Yes, he's made it known on more than one occasion that he admires Witten as a football player.

Bennett wasn't utilized properly. That is the coaches fault on that one and I can't blame Bennett feeling left out. That said, I am glad he is gone :)

But that's the problem. We've drafted three TEs early. The first guy we got--drawing a blank on his name--was an average starter in the league. He would've made a solid #2 TE. Then we get Bennett who had crazy athleticism and excellent blocking skills. Maybe if they believed in him he would've had a different attitude. They've nurtured Dez like a baby and look how that paid off. It seems like they invested nothing into Bennett. The coaches and the schemes are the problem, not the players, so don't keep wasting 2nd round picks on TEs if you're gonna keep making the same mistakes. And the worst part of all is they just drafted a potential gem in Hanna last year.

Was Phillips and I liked him too. Again, the TE's were not used properly and that falls back on the offensive coaches.

No, not Phillips. Phillips had potential too. I'm talking about the guy they drafted in the 2nd round two years before they drafted Bennett. He was the starting TE for the Dolphins for a few years.

Since we're reminiscing about Bennett.

Lets take a moment to remember how awkward he seemed when the ball was thrown his way.

And can't forget about that quuuick turn and run after the catch.

Seemed like the guy couldn't get moving fast enough.

Personally I'm glad he's gone and think his lack of production had a lot more to do with him than the coaching staff.

I also won't hold it against the team for trying to find players for positions they seem to find important.

Even if they miss on occasion.

Too bad we let Bennett go. He was so great with the Giants, that now he's playing for the Bears...

I'm guessing that both the Cowboys and Giants let Bennett walk because they thought he was the polar opposite of the RKG. My best friend is a Bears fan and really excited about the Bennett signing. I bet him a dozen Pro V's that there will be an in game blow up between him and Cutler before the season is over.

Lol at Bennett. Yeah you're so close to Eli that he let you go to the bears. I'm sure Eli was just begging mgmt to keep you. Bennett lives in his own world.

The most disappointing thing about the Escobar pick is this is the third 2nd-round TE in 5-6 years. Call me crazy but I don't know why they got rid of Bennett. He's an amazing blocker and can go up for jump balls in the red zone. Sounds exactly like what we need.

Marty's jump ball problem was that he was always jumping somewhere other than the ball was thrown. Very minor flaw in his game while at Dallas.

I understand what he has said in the past, but i feel like had we made him a part of the passing attack, he would have been satisfied and that attitude would have changed.
MB was the opposite of RKG. Bad pick, that will never be better than Average.

Maybe because he's a meatball?

Bennett couldn't catch a ball to save his life in Dallas. He was an underachieving player who should have got cut sooner.

Yeah right.. You just made yourself look stupid

Cuts at LB, WR and RB will be difficult this preseason. I guess that's a good thing.

lol.. ok bud.

The truth is, he wasn't an attitude problem at all in his final few season's here. He didn't like not being included more in the passing game and just being a primary blocker, but i never once heard about him slacking off on the field or during practice and i saw him hustle and excel at the role he was asked to perform.

Just because people want to remember him differently, doesn't make it a reality..

Sean Lee is amazing. What a player! A turnover machine. Frederick is exactly what we needed in the middle. Wilcox is going to be another playmaker.
Is it me or do we look better on offense with Lance Dunbar in the game.
We have a very good team, but it is a house of cards if we start losing guys. I guess you could say that about most teams. Our DL depth is not up to snuff.
Really excited about our OL. That Left side looks like it could become dominant.
I'm not worried about Escobar. If you listen to interviews, he seems like a hard worker. He'll get there. He is an example of why you draft a guy 2 years before you need him.

Dynamic is the word I would use; I think he gives the offense more options. Murray is still the better back, though.

I would really like to point out a guy who is really doesn't get talked about. Ernie Sims. The guy is just a fast football player and he doesn't seem to make many mistakes. I like him starting with Lee and Carter. I know Church made a couple of bad angles but I'm going to give him a pass considering how much time he missed. He will be fine though

Sims was at SLB in the second defensive series in the 1st quarter with Lee and Carter still in at the other spots. Durant was back in the game in the 2nd quarter at SLB with Sims at WLB.
