I think too many of you fall in love with names. I mean come on, you're acting like Greg Hardy is JJ Watt or something. Yes, he's a fantastic player, but he's not some All-World generational talent; he's a good DE.

I also think some of you want the Cowboys to sign anyone with a name you've heard before and a smudge of talent. (see Paea, Sheard, etc)

Obviously the Cowboys don't feel that many of these Free Agents are better than what we already have on the roster.

I think that many of you want the Cowboys to make lateral moves just because you like to see new names on the roster.

The player you sign in Free Agency needs to be markedly better than what we have on the roster, and most of them just aren't. Otherwise, it's truly not worth it. It's not an upgrade, it's a sidegrade. Just swapping names.

Trust in the Cowboys being smart in Free Agency and building this team through the draft.

There is no one player, signed or not, that will put this team in the Super Bowl.

Uh, Greg Hardy IS markedly better than anyone we have on the roster. He is not a "generational" talent but he is one of the best DEs in the league. There is no arguing that.

I know he is. I'd love to see him as a Cowboy. It's just looking like it's not going to happen. And that's ok.

Hardy is far better than what we have on our roster but he still is in the leagues doghouse and it looks like there will be a bidding war with teams that NEED to spend money to get him. It just might be impossible

That's absolutely not the tone of your OP though. You shunned people for really wanting Hardy and acted as if he's not a significant player.

My post was not really aimed at Hardy'snon-signing with the Cowboys. It was aimed at the crowd that is freaking out because they feel that we're doing nothing in Free Agency.

I want Hardy to be a Cowboy. We need pass rush badly. Hardy is really the exception to my post. I understand how you could take it the other way though, as I did start the post mentioning him.

I just think that a lot of posters are upset because so-and-so didn't get signed when in reality they're no better than what the Cowboys already have.

Yeah, how dare these silly people want talented players? Who needs talent when you can get cheap players from the scrap heap. Great thinking OP.

You get talent through the draft, sir. That's what it's there for.

 what do you honestly think the odds of us drafting a starting caliber defensive lineman at pick #27 are? I'd love to hear your answer to this.

Talented teams are built through the draft, not bought in free agency. I thought the early 2000's Commanders taught us that. And now we're seeing the second Philly "Dream Team" over the past five years.

In this defense we don't really have "starters" on the DL. It's about having 7-8 solid rotational guys who can all play at a solid level. There will be guys in the first 3 rounds that can be one of those solid rotational guys.

Jimmy Johnson could teach you about it, if you like.

Ok, besides Hardy, name a player that people are "freaking out about" that is really not better than what we already have. I have seen no one freak out. Hardy would be the closest and he is clearly better than what we have.

As it stands, our defensive ends consist of Lawrence, Kenneth Boatright, Jack Crawford, Lavar Edwards and Ben Gardner. Our DTs consist of Ken Bishop, Davon Coleman, Josh Brent, Tyrone Crawford, Terrell McClain and Chris Whaley.

I am sorry, other than DeMarcus Lawrence, Tyrone Crawford and, possibly, Josh Brent there is very little there that is better than what we have seen go in Free Agency.

you get talent through BOTH the draft and free agency and by KEEPING key pieces that you drafted. I didn't see Seattle let Chancellor, Sherman and Thomas go and replace them with bargains and try to replace them through the draft. Green Bay didn't let all their pieces walk.

Okay, I'll bite.

Please, tell me in detail which players on our roster should be replaced, who we should replace them with, at what cost should the newly acquired player be signed without hindering the rest of our roster.

Green Bay has a roster full of their own homegrown talent. I think it's something like 47 of their 53 players were either draft picks or taken in UDFA.

Seattle let Browner and Maxwell walk.

You're not helping your cause. You're basically saying that teams should draft their own talent.

Youre clueless and living in fairytale land but that's fine. Whatever works for you.

Good teams who build through the draft take the best talent available. They don't go into the draft needing to fill specific needs. That's how you reach and take a bust. According to your genius plan we would be forced to try and draft a de and dt early no matter what
