Yep. Josh Brent. High character guy. Joseph Randle. High character guy. Dez Bryant. High character guy.

You have such a lucid point!

The aforementioned players have been disciplined accordingly, and were on the team long before Hardy physically manhandled his girlfriend--now hoping to find a team that will pretend to look the other way.

Lucid and pragmatic.

How does Josh Brent, Joseph Randle and even Dez Bryant fit that definition? Randle and Dez didn't do anything as bad as what Hardy is accused of doing but there are still character issues there. Josh Brent killed a team mate. There are certainly issues there.

Josh Brent made a bad decision, not unlike the same bad decision that many of us have made and millions make every year. Unfortunately it cost the life of team mate and friend Jerry Brown. It wasn't a character issue but abandoning Brent would be. Family does not do that. Jerry Browns mother asked Jerry Jones to give Brent a chance after he paid his penance as deemed by the legal system.

Dez and Randle are just young men making bad decisions that young men make and to be fair to Dez he is maturing. Not really the character flaws that Garrett was addressing.

Hardy is a different case all together. He is not the RKG.

So, hitting your mother is just a bad decision? Stealing from a department store and then a few weeks later allegedly pulling a gun on your kid's mom is just a bad decision? Gotcha.

The mental gymnastics we fans go through to protect our favorites is why we are fanatics.

Dez hitting his mother was an allegation never confirmed. As for Randle, I won't defend what he did in the department store and we still don't know what actually happened with his baby's mama. It's still under investigation. So I can't fairly judge him on that, but for argument sake... I'd be okay if he gets cut for not being the RKG.

Hardy is by far the best pass rusher available and a lot of people on this site feel like that is the biggest area of need on defense.

The Hardy allegation was never confirmed either, the charges were dropped. (I think he did it but that is besides the point.). You are okay with Randle getting cut because he is not an impact player like Dez.

The fact of the matter is, under your supposed definition of RKG, Dez, Randle and Brent do not fit either. You overlook it because they are Cowboys already. They still don't fit.

First, you do not speak for me. Do not presume to know the reason I'm okay if Randle gets cut and not Dez. Your presumption in this case is wrong. And do not confuse facts for what you believe.

If you see some conflict between coach Garrett's "RKG" speech and the actions of the team in not holding certain players accountable to that standard, then say so and we will discuss it.

The original poster is absolutely right. Look at Mike Wallace getting moved today. Wallace was the gem of free agency two summers ago, and Miami couldn't get rid of him fast enough two years later.

Football is such a team sport that the success of even seemingly can't-miss players doesn't always translate to their new destination. It's why, if I'm an Eagle fan, I have some concern about the Murray signing. It took a combination of a lot of things to produce the rushing output he had last year: a game plan committed to the run, Murray's health, Murray's talent, an unmatched offensive line, and one of the best supporting casts of offensive talent in the league. Chip away any of those things and it can produce a wildly different result -- both for the Cowboys and for Murray individually.

A bunch of FAs flop so lets never spend again.

Over 33% of First Round picks are busts so I guess we should never draft that high again.

There is nothing to get. There is no 'correct' way to build a team. You have to use all your resources and tools and pick the right players, whether its the Draft, FA, trades or re-signing our own guys.

From everything I've read is he exactly a RKG. Ask his teammates and coaches.

I will when he has some teammates and coaches. If he was such a RKG then why was he given a franchise tag to play in 2014 and then released? Oh. you must not have ready anything about that because "From everything you've read..."

The OP is a fan that only sees "getting better" as the only objective. I too put a premium on getting better but I know this is a business. With that in mind I know sometimes you have to trade talent away so you can bring other talent in at a cheaper price. Most fans are oblivious to the business aspects of the NFL and have no interest in it. But this is how the sausage is made.

Ask Deangelo Williams about his mother passing and Hardy being the only one to show for the funeral.

Panthers cornerback Josh Norman said he hoped Sunday was not goodbye.

“A guy of that caliber, man, we need that,” Norman said. “Hands down, I would welcome that and relish the chance to play with that guy again.”

So he is a human being that supports certain guys on the team. He's also a woman beater that beat the legal system with his money. If you got a beef with the Cowboys not pursuing him then go talk to the people that made that decision. I just agree with it.

And Hardy has also been disciplined and may be disciplined more. You seem to have blinders on for conduct issues as long as they are already Cowboys.

Hardy was not released. His contract was up. Did we release Durant? Carter? Murray? No. Their contract was up and we chose to not re-sign them for whatever reasons. The Panthers wanted him back, as we wanted Murray back, but chose to let him test the market and get his off the field issues cleaned up.

You questioned his character. I don't know him and you don't know him. But I provided two examples from people that do. You choose to ignore them to validate your viewpoint.
