Obtaining a guard via trade or 53 man roster cutdown

I can't see us going to the trouble to sign Waters and pay him big bucks with the expectation that he is signed to be a backup.

He'll have to earn a starting job at this point. If he is as good as we hope then maybe he's starting by week three.

Yes if they settle on an injury settlement.

I know they would have to come to an injury settlement with a player who is cut when he is injured, but I'm not sure it is a prerequisite to cutting an injured player.

If we get waters, I believe this OL could be pretty good to very good...especially if Free steps up and the unit stays healthy

What has changed to make Arkin not even worthy to be a back-up?

What has changed to make you think he will get any playing time this year? :). Maybe he will turn out to be worth the roster spot we have used on him and the draft pick we invested in him. Hopefully so, but so far the smart money is probably betting against him..... Especially with Jerry beating the bushes to find a guard.

I think Arkin needs to have a pretty good game tomorrow night if he wants to feel safe on this roster.

There's a 99% chance that we will sign a FA or make a trade by the Giants game. Cowboys aren't going to go into the season with Leary starting and no backup. Arkin's not a viable backup and they know it.

we're not going to make a trade. pick up a cut, likely.

trade? no.

Could we give up a late round pick and pry someone loose?

can you spend a few minutes on seeing who that would be? many fans get mad a jones and company and cry out they just "lob crap on the wall".

then they make a post like this.

"can we make a move for the sake of making a move".

who would you target?
why them?
do they fit where we're going?
is what we gave up worth what we're getting?
why?

or i could just lob **** on the wall and say we need to do something but remain clueless in what that move should be.

There are certainly serviceable players who will slip through the cracks and if our team is in as much a panic to get a guard as they seem to be, those guys would undoubtedly be better than what we currently have.

Now, can our pro personnel department actually identify who these guys are and get them in here? Given our track record with offensive linemen, I doubt it.

Have you been watching our pro scout departments fruits?
