If alan Branch falls to early 20s like some are reporting he might, we need to get him. Backup NT is the biggest need IMO and he'd be excellent learning under Fergy.
If no one else has agreed with you on this thread, let me be the first. Right now, we're too damn thin behind Ferguson; and if he goes, the whole front seven of the 3-4 will go with him as well. This scheme needs a big bruiser in the middle of the defensive line to clog up the run. If not, other teams will shift from passing against us and run right at our defense. We definitely need quality depth at the position.

Based on the 2 main facts (Injuries & Age) stated, we need some depth at CB. Anywhere between the 1st and 3rd would be wise..:starspin

I don't think there is a logical first choice at this point.

It depends on who falls.

CB is a need position if the coaching staff feels neither Jones nor Reeves have starting ability.

Henry has been both excellent at times(outplaying Newman) and horrid at times limping around field chasing slow guy. I don't think Henry gets moved t safety here. I suspect he starts at CB or gets cut. He makes too much to move around.

If Henry is healthy then I'd think CB is just another position where we could use some young talent but is not a position where a young guy will play early. If Henry is not healthy and doesn't look to be 100% healthy for this season than at 22 we almost have to go CB. I am assuming since we didnt fill the CB slot in FA that he is healthy right now.

I would like to get a CB, RB, WR out of this draft for sure. I like the prospects a lot at those positions. Most are down on Rbs but I am not at all. I think there are a lot of the part-time type guys that are in vogue.

Brees also has 5 sec in the pocket and is able to step up and deliver the ball with no one in his face.

What I see on that play again no pressure at all which allows the QB to step up in the pocket and deliver an accurate pass. Add to that the safety failed to read the play and provide deep coverage. I don't think Henry is some pro bowl CB I do think he is a solid CB working opposite of Newman. If you want to portray Henry as some hack CB then your entitled to you own opinion but I do not agree with that at all.

umm...

The defense was in a Cover 2.

Henry had the short zone.

Davis had the deep zone.

Davis didn't cover his assignment, which was to keep the receiver in front of him and/or jump the route if the receiver halts his route in front of him.

Madden even diagrammed the scheme... in your (eduncan22) clip.

And the play that lost the Commanders game for us...

It was a better illustration of any weakness from Henry, but I agree mostly with your assessment. Watkins may have bit hard on providing help against the slot receiver, but there's no real excuse for leaving the whole right (Henry's) side of the field devoid of deep help.

On a side note, I think that was an example of Watkins' rookie experience which he can overcome with better coaching. * fingers crossed *

I understand you don't like Henry. I don't agree with you that he is a poor CB.

I have said this before...I like all the names coming up for this draft, but this is one position that I really feel and HOPE that they address! All the fancy recievers, and CB's and Safties, and whatnot are all good...but, man, we NEED a NT real bad!

I know we have Stanley "talk dirty to the QB" guy...but, he was not an elite player, per se, and we really need a good one!

I'm not as informed as most of you, so I doubt a NT would be good at #22, but, and it's not a "wow" position, however, it is a BIG need! This is the most important position for the 34 from what I understand, and if Fergy bites the dust....?

 Please, Jerra and Wade...get us a good NT! Please!!

That's the only example which you can hang your argument on, imo.

Not making excuses, but, didn't Henry have a groin pull or something like that last season?

IIRC, he played pretty good his first year here. We got him from Cleveland, right?

Except for the part of saying that "play that lost the Commanders game" Looking at the replay there is over 14 min in the 4th qrt. :laugh2: That play alone did not cost us the game.

Henry has been injured a good bit since we acquired him. His health is my only issue with him, not his cover skills. Yeah, we got him from the Browns.

True enough. It was the Vanderjagt blocked field goal attempt with less than a minute to play that helped the Commanders pull that one out.

not really. he was in position to make a play so he clearly wasn't burned, he just made a very bad play on the ball.

I think Josh Wilson is as good as any CB in this draft not named Darrelle Revis.

I agree! I like Wilson as well! This would be a very nice 2nd round choice.

I will admit I have not seen him play, but I really like everything I have read, highlights I have watched, and commentary I have heard on him.

Eric Wright would be a nice 2nd round pick as well.
