He's a Cowboy so I doubt he has a shot at it even though he truly DESERVES it!!!!

10% chance he wins league MVP... and that is probably being generous.

*sigh*

So for starters, his history will be held against him. Next, Murray is already getting the credit for this team surpassing 8-8, although Murray probably won't be the MVP either. Next, QBs usually win this award, and there's a couple that have had pretty good seasons and their teams have played fairly well.

I mean, I think a string of things would have to happen for this to even possibly happen. The Cowboys would have to end up the #2 seed. I know that seems unfair, but life is unfair, so deal with that. Next, he'd need a 25/30, 400 yard, 4 TD, 0 INT kind of a performance. Next, you need Murray to sit out, or do next to nothing so it won't get held against Romo. After that, you need Rodgers AND Brady to have awful week 17 performances that result in losses. I'm talking like no TD passes, 2-3 picks, fumbles lost, etc. It wouldn't hurt if J.J. Watt gets owned and the Texans lose too.

Even with all that going on, I think Romo wouldn't get it, but that would be his best bet. BTW, there's a QB in Seattle that some folks think deserve to be MVP too, so you might have to hope the chatter about that remains minimal, because it could pick up some steam in a hurry with the way they've been playing lately.

Don't they vote these around Super Bowl time? If that's the case, it's probably dependent on him going far in the playoffs. I hate to say this people, but the regular season doesn't mean anything at the end of the day. Post season success, that's where you make your name. So for me, I don't really care what's happened up until this point now. I'm happy he's played great for the most part, but now it's time to go places where only the big boys hang out. It's time for Romo to take that Eagles and Colts butt whippin, and use that poise to flash through the post season. He does that, I'll bow before him.

Only MVP I care about is SuperBowl MVP. I am sure Romo feels the same. No time to fish for individual accolades, there is still a job to be done.

I'm with you on this one. Whether or not Romo wins MVP doesn't mean that much. We'd be happy about it, sure, but the regular season MVP seems to get lost in all the hype and talk about the postseason. Afterward, nobody really talks about the regular season MVP, but they do much more about who got hot and tore it up in the playoffs. Eli got all the hype after the Giants won the SB, and I couldn't tell you who won regular season MVP that year. Same with Flacco the following year. Nobody cared about the regular season MVP. It was all Flacco this, Flacco that.

Romo needs to be great in the post season. If he is, and they win, and Romo gets the SB MVP, that's all that'll matter. Sure, why not both? But what's the point? Even if he did win both, all people would talk about would be what he did in the postseason.

Romo absolutely deserves MVP this year. Murray has been great, but we've seen what kind of depths this team sinks to when Romo isn't playing.

If he were anyone other than Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys, then I think it would be a no brainer...

I posted this elsewhere:

Why is Rodgers the "undeniable" MVP by many? Romo's team has the same record, yes that very same team once projected to finish dead last. Romo has a higher passer rating than Rodgers and in fact leads the entire NFL, Romo's Cowboys have the same record as the Packers, and finally Romo has already won his division...with a broken back. So I ask the NFL population, why isn't Romo the lead MVP candidate? Dude can never get credit when he deserves it.

How many games did he miss last year and the Packers still made the playoffs.

When is voting? If during or after the playoffs it will be whoever has the best playoff run between him and Rodgers. If they both do well, tie will go to Rodgers.

Romo is getting a LOT of mvp press right now, so he's hot on voters' minds.

The problem is that Murray and Romo are going to take votes away from each other.

The thing is, Murray + the offensive line carried the team in the first half of the season. However, Romo has absolutely been the MVP the second half of the season and the overall MVP of the team. We saw what happens when teams don't have to respect the passing game. Murray's season is more of the OPOY variety.

I was listening to the talking heads today and they were saying it is Murray and the OL. They downplayed Romo

That was your first mistake. It's the media the frames the mainstream's opinions. Just look at the type of people Fox News and MSNBC create.

I'm just happy Romo is in the conversation. He should definitely be mentioned with the others. If doesn't win it, so be it. There are other great candidates, namely Aaron Rodgers.

When Matt Flynn put up Rodgers numbers in a game, then failed everywhere else he went that showed me the Packers system has a LOT to do with Rodgers success. He's an excellent QB but he benefits more than Romo ever has from his surroundings.

Watt is balling for a team not in the playoffs.

It's gotta be tony damnit. Sick of him being pushed to the side
