Of Crystal Balls and Tea Leaves Part III

You have to take the whole picture into the equation

Rush yards
Receiving yards
Total touchdowns

I'm fine with that.

Murray had:

1,845 rushing yards
416 receiving yards
13 TD's

McFadden had:

1,089 rushing yards
328 receiving yards
3 TD's

And that was after not starting until week 7, and not having Romo or Bryant for the majority of the season.
Elliott should have no such qualifiers if things go according to plan.

I'm not expecting 1,800 yards, but he should do noticeably better than McFadden's 1,100 if the other weapons are there.

There's no way to dispute this

Agreed and let's hope he does, he should.

No, I'm with you...I would love to see the Cowboys win a Super Bowl and I think the Zeke pick up has potential to help the Cowboys do just that. But again, if you are of the belief that defense, and defense only, wins championship, I am going to be hard pressed to convince you otherwise until that actually happens...and even then your likely to dub it the exception to the rule, so...

Never said anything about defense only. But just for laughs, it just happened this year.

Ask me this question when that happens. Otherwise, it's not worth talking about.

These guys crack me up talking about winning the SB. LOL Its unreal how homered out some fans can get.

This argument is pretty simple these cats dont get it. If there is anything that Murray proved is that a good back can make this running game rise to a level that is top of the NFL. So you dont need a transcendent back to get the output. Would you rather have Ramsey and Morris and Miller or Carr and Elliott? Its a pretty easy call.

Vegas setting odds of 18/1 shows it is not that far fetched. Odd are not as good as some but better than other teams. Myself I never predict SB I go into the season with the goals of making post season, winning division. If you can do that then you got a chance to take the distance.

Yah, again........18-1 doesnt interest me and neither does winning a weak division. Not when its at the behest of building a long term power house. We dont have a shot at winning the SB until we fix the D. Its that simple. And AGAIN the d played second fiddle to the offense. Get Romo all the weapons he wants. What he needs now is a defense.

As I said I don't predict SB never have. However saying only Homers feel this way is non sense when odds makers who are not homers give their views of the Cowboys chances. The odds are not as good as some and not as bad as others. Now we could sit here and make a bunch of comment but in the end things will be determined on the field, not opinions , message board views or odds makers. When you say we have no shot that is your view and that is fine. Frankly I don't know how the defense will perform but I know we will find out once the season gets underway

Your premise is flawed. Essentially, what you are suggesting is that a back of Murray's caliber is available in any round, which simply is not the case. Murray fell in the draft for reasons other than his ability; his ability to stay on the field was the concern and those concerns were warranted. Every player you draft is a gamble...and the odds of hitting on a player get steeper the further removed you get from the first round.

Murray is good to very good. You can find those backs in FA and in rounds 2-4. Not every year, but they were there last year in the draft and this year in both the draft and FA. They can also be found at the back of the first round.
