Was watching a piece this morning on Good Morning Football and they were talking about Vontaze Burfict. Saying he is the Junk Yard Dog that their D has been missing.

Meaning that one guy on you offensive and defensive unit that brings the attitude, edge and the guy you want to go to war with that raises the play of all the other guys on the unit.

That most great units have that guy that is the Junk Yard Dog and raises everyone's play because of the way they play and the attitude the bring to the field.

Got me thinking about who our Junk Yard Dogs would be on the offensive and defensive units if we have one.

The best I could come up with was Oscan on D when he is right as he seems to bring a attitude that at least the secondary feeds off of.

And maybe Fred or Martin on O.

Do you think we have Junk Yard Dogs on our O & D units and if you do who would they be?

No on offense and no on defense.

Let me explain, you got know a difference between a real junk yard dog and a fake dog ( one who runs his mouth but isn't bout it). Junk yard dogs will fight you on the field and off the field. They don't care what happens, they got the attitude and the RAGE

Don't confuse players with talent as junk yard dogs. That's not the same. Romo is not junk yard dog. Witten is not a junk yard dog. Sean Lee is not a junk yard dog.

Real junk yard dogs : Ray Lewis, Burfict, Colombo, Michael Irvin, James Washington , Steve Smith

Note : you're not a junk yard dog, if you are tickling other players before the game, or hanging out. Junk yard dogs don't do things like that. Junk yard dogs also have run ins with the LAWs cause they bout it.

I don't by into this whole "junk yard dog" BS, which is classic coded language for a black player that's guided more by instinct than skill - much like an animal. You'll rarely hear anyone call Luke Kuechley a junk yard dog, but I'm sure Ray Lewis has been called that on plenty of occasions.

All that aside, we are definitely missing talent on the defense and that's really all it comes down to.

This is exactly what I'm talking about, and I wrote my post before reading this.

I think they would have called Randy White & Marco Columbu (not the most talented) junk yard dogs and in my way of thinking so is Clay Matthews & Luke Kuechley. I don't see the racial undertones at all.

To me it is more about fight, attitude, leadership and some talent.

I disagree that junk yard dog is code for raging black guy. There were many junk yard dogs in NFL history who were not Black: Dick Butkus, Ray Nitschke, Lyle Alzado, Jack Lambert, Chuck Bednarik, Mike Ditka, Conrad Dobler, Randy White, Chuck Cecil, Bill Romanowski, etc.

Cowboys current junk yard dog is Ron Leary with Lael Collins very close behind. But before those guys it was Marc Columbo and Jay Ratliff.

Oh, and Witten may not be as animated as Dez but he is every bit the junkyard dog. The guy just oozes tough. He even bullies his own teammates.

Didn't Burfict basically singlehandedly lose them that playoff game on a really, really dumb penalty?

Get guys that can play and stay out of trouble. Running your mouth is overrated.

Some peeps are confusing talent with nastiness. Bill romanowski was a junk yard dog, Sean Lee isn't.
Michael Irvin was a junk yard dog, Jordy Nelson isn't.

Think spit in their face, thumb in their eye, give them that extra sumptin in the pile, targeting injured areas type guy. The guy that would shank you if you looked at him wrong. The guy that when he loses his temper, something bad is gonna happen. Smh. The guy that after he knocks you out, he curbs you so you have a reminder

McClain MLB was Dallas junk yard dog. With him gone I would probably say Wilcox is junk yard dog mentality who is just knocking people around back there.

You make it sound like "junkyard dog" was an official NFL position.

Someone actually watches Good Morning Football......:muttley:
It really is unwatchable. I can't see it lasting until the new year.

I don't know who runs that channel but, that Good Morning football idea is one of the stupidest I've seen in television history. I guess it's supposed to be like the morning shows on the networks that are mainly watched by woman. Who are the two guys anyway and why do I care what they have to say about football?

Maybe they should try some highlights that last longer than 20 seconds. I think I hate them.
