Was watching a piece this morning on Good Morning Football and they were talking about Vontaze Burfict. Saying he is the Junk Yard Dog that their D has been missing.

Meaning that one guy on you offensive and defensive unit that brings the attitude, edge and the guy you want to go to war with that raises the play of all the other guys on the unit.

That most great units have that guy that is the Junk Yard Dog and raises everyone's play because of the way they play and the attitude the bring to the field.

Got me thinking about who our Junk Yard Dogs would be on the offensive and defensive units if we have one.

The best I could come up with was Oscan on D when he is right as he seems to bring a attitude that at least the secondary feeds off of.

And maybe Fred or Martin on O.

Do you think we have Junk Yard Dogs on our O & D units and if you do who would they be?
Fred said in interviews back in 2014 that it was Ron Leary.

They need a front 7 player on defense to become that guy. Maybe M. Collins in time. He is both the biggest and possibly quickest of the DL. His hustle on that 1 play in the Skins game showed some get it done attitude.

Maybe Jalen Smith next year.

Did not know that Fred said that about Leary, to bad the long term healthy questions with him.

I agree it would be nice to have one on the D line as well as the LB corps, I think Oscan when healthy is the Dog in the secondary..

It really is unwatchable. I can't see it lasting until the new year.

I don't know who runs that channel but, that Good Morning football idea is one of the stupidest I've seen in television history. I guess it's supposed to be like the morning shows on the networks that are mainly watched by woman. Who are the two guys anyway and why do I care what they have to say about football?

Maybe they should try some highlights that last longer than 20 seconds. I think I hate them.

I actually like the show, it's entertaining and the woman on the show is pretty hot.

Like Bill Romanowski? o_O

Bill Romanowski was just nasty.

Good player. Dirty player. Basically paid zero respect for his opponents and never thought twice about it.

The kind of player you hated when he was playing for the other team but you loved if he was on yours.

Sorta like Bill Lambeer?

He certainly was one, but I could do without the spitting.

I was actually watching that game as a teen when he spit in Stokes face. Cray cray. Some say he is a racist, but he still has cache around the NFL circles due to the monster on the field that he was,

I once watched a Real Sports (or maybe it was an HBO Inside the NFL) that showed how many pills he had to take to just get up and get going for the day. He was so beat up from how hard he played.

Yes, I would say he is the epitome of a "junkyard dog" :)

Oh, and Witten may not be as animated as Dez but he is every bit the junkyard dog. The guy just oozes tough. He even bullies his own teammates.
Lol no he doesn't. Witten can't even hold his own when blocking anymore.

At least I'm not pretending the term is race related. It's not.

Have your opinion, I don't begrudge you that, but don't be foolish enough to believe it's the only one that's allowed or valid.

Maybe not a NFL position, but I sure would like to have 3 or 4 on each side of the ball.

The word you're looking for is "talented player". You wouldn't care if they were mean or not if they helped win games, and I agree - we need more talent.

Offense - maybe Zeke, looked like he had some in him in that game up in Seattle. Certainly have a few nasty guys on that oline.

Defense- well, certainly are some dogs for sure just not the junk yard variety. Lot of guys chasing their tails every Sunday on that side of the ball.
