Offensive Tackle Drew Shelton

I was just listening to The Break give their opinions on the starting 53.

Someone brought up a good point.

I’d have no problem replacing both Drew Shelton and Nate Thomas with linemen released by other teams.

In fact, I’d have no trouble swapping a late round pick for someone else I liked.
It is shocking how many talk about Thomas being a starter. I don't see that at all. Shelton is a head scratcher as there were good players available when they grabbed him. I am always leery of OL guys being released. I guess anyone would be better. I am on the record that Lawrence should have been a OT instead. Imagine Lomu here.

All indications are that Drew Shelton was an indulgence for line coach Conor Riley.

Riley tried to recruit him out of high school.

When informing him of the pick, Riley told Shelton, "We finally got you".

Offensive tackle is in need of churning. I’d cut Shelton and try to put him on the practice squad for his clearly needed redshirt season.

And use the roster spot on someone with experience.
