No
There are a couple of threads on CZ anout that. In fact Hutchinson who Hendershot was blocking did try to trip Pollard on that play
Completely incorrect call

That penalty on Hendershot which no fan or coach from Detroit brings up allowed Detroit to get the ball back otherwise Dallas gets the first down eats up clock wins 17-13 . Campbell and Detroit have no one to blame but themselves .

I honestly think 68 reported or tried to but ref didn't hear him.
They ran 3 players at the ref. They tried to be cute and it blew up in their face. But Cowboys say they were looking for the eligible called player the whole time.

Also they had a pre game conference with the ref on this very play, so the intent was to confuse Dallas all along with having 3 players go to the ref. Why else would you need a pre game ref conference over a tackle eligible play that gets run all the time?

No he wasn't. Look at the replay. The WR was off the LOS. Watch the play posted in this article. At the start #8 is off the LOS, not by much but he is technically not covering #68 (Decker).

On the other side, #70 is covered. If he went out for a pass, he would have been an ineligible player downfield.

70 reported, or at least the ref announced him as eligible and that’s what counts. Therefore 68 cannot be eligible and be in the LOS outside him. So this was clearly an illegal formation if 68 reported. Or it’s illegal touching if 68 didn’t report. Or it’s 8 men on the LOS in any event, which is an illegal formation.

If it was reported for all to hear, what are people complaining about? That also makes both sides of their line illegal.

Regardless of whether or not he was mistaken, the Lions were aware of this (by Goff’s own admission) and threw to an ineligible receiver anyway. It is their job to confirm the ref knows who is declaring as eligible.

Thank you for finding this--- HUGE information so the official was right now. Even if 68 did say something, Lions should have called timeout

The play clock started late. They had nearly a full 25 seconds to correct the ref before the play was run. /thread

No. If 68 reported as an eligible receiver, he would have had to have been on the outside on the LOS and not covered by another eligible receiver or he had to stop back off the LOS and another eligible player had to move up to the LOS. Since he did not report this was an illegal formation because no one covered him. Brad Allen, the ref, said that the Lions committed 2 penalties on the play, the one they called and also illegal formation because #70 was eligible and was covered. But if he thought #70 was eligible and not #68 then there were two illegal formation penalties.

We’re in agreement in general. I’m just stating all the options for Lions complainers. There’s literally no way that play was legal no matter what they claimed happened before the snap.

Yeah, I was listening in spanish the official announcement was 70, I clearly remember. In fact I thought something was off when Decker caught the pass.

Brad & Babe brought up before the snap that 70 was eligible but never caught the fact that 68 was the one who caught it. They thought the flag was on Dallas until they saw the players clapping. Disappointing that a former QB wouldn't have caught that right away.

THIS! Detroit should have known the screw up/ error pre-snap. They chose to run the play anyway. …… and still had 2 more tries to make a better decision.

:hammer: They literally walked right into their own grave. The PA announced 70 reported and made no attempts to adjust which is why the presser's of 68 and Campbell were so sketchy. All around failure of 3 shots at a two point consecutively.
