Both Archer and Broaddus have alluded to Keith and Rod Smith making the roster. They must be hearing something. I don't see the value of carrying two fullbacks.

3. I wonder if the Cowboys carry two fullbacks on the roster. Well, I wonder if they would consider it for real. It would seem to be too much, but Rod Smithand Keith Smith have some value besides just playing fullback. Rod can play some tailback and all of the special teams units. He has been slowed by an infection for the last 10 days or so that hurts his stock. Keith was able to take the chance and show he can get multiple jobs done. He's also a special teamer and if completely wiped out he could play his natural position, linebacker. I bet you special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia fights for this.

I am not sure how this is going to work out, but there are some in the organization who believe both Rod Smith and Keith Smith could make this final roster. I have Keith Smith in my final group, but I do not have Rod Smith. In my opinion, Keith Smith has shown up better as a blocker, runner and receiver -- plus what he has been able to do on special teams to take that spot. It appears that Rod Smith is a favorite of the coaching staff and they’re not interested in parting ways with him at this point. If this is the case, guys like Austin Traylor and Darius Jackson could be in trouble.

They cut Shaneil Jenkins? Bummer.

"Where Dallas had hoped that Jenkins would make the roster and provide a spark to the sagging defensive line, the best hope now is that Jenkins clears waivers so they can retain his rights and put him on the injured reserve list."

Hopefully, they sneak him in.

I think they can get the 4th year back for JSmith if he spends the season on the NFI

Section 1. Accrued Seasons Calculation: (a) For the purposes of calculating Accrued Seasons under this Agreement, a player shall receive one Accrued Season for each season during which he was on, or should have been on, full pay status for a total of six or more regular season games, but which, irrespective of the player’s pay status, shall not include games for which the player was on: (i) the Exempt Commissioner Permission List, (ii) the Reserve PUP List as a result of a nonfootball injury, or (iii) a Club’s Practice Squad.

......................

Section 3. Nonfootball Injury: (a) A player who is placed on a Nonfootball Injury or Illness list (“N-F/I”) will not be entitled to any compensation under his contract while on such list but, except as provided below, his contract will continue to run while in such status. (b) A player on N-F/I who is in the final year of his contract (including an option year) will have his contract tolled. However, if the player is physically able to perform his football services on or before the sixth regular season game, the club must pay the player his negotiated Paragraph 5 Salary (pro rata) for the balance of the season in order to toll such player’s contract. If such player is taken off N-F/I during the period when such action is allowed by League rules, his contract will not be tolled.

.........................

Section 2. Credited Season: For purposes of calculating Credited Seasons under this Article only, a player shall earn one Credited Season for each season during which he was on, or should have been on, full pay status for a total of three or more regular season games, but which, irrespective of the player’s pay status, shall not include games for which this player was on: (i) the Exempt Commissioner Permission List; (ii) the Reserve PUP List as a result of a nonfootball injury; (iii) a Club’s Practice or Developmental Squad; or (iv) a Club’s Injured Reserve List.

No big surprises, everybody knew Moore was going on IR for the season and I highly doubt they bring him back in-season.

The real cuts come after the last preseason game, that is when you might see some surprises.

It isn't a coincidence that the final cut-down goes from 75 to 53....those 22 spots are the 22 starters out for the last game
You nailed it..............virtually all the guys in the last preseason game are the ones that are getting cut. Nobody plays starters just one week before the season starts.

that stinks......not arguing, just don't see why.......thought he wouldn't accrue a season if he was one the NFI more than 10 weeks

High round draft picks get paid in full no matter if on the regular roster, NFI, PUP or IR.

So Jaylon Smith will accrue a season of service towards unrestricted free agency this year whether he plays a down of football or not.

Later round draft picks, undrafted free agents and players signed to futures contracts will typically have split salary clauses where they don't get paid a full salary if placed on IR or PUP during the summer or early in the regular season.

These types will not accrue a season towards unrestricted free agency if they miss most or all of a season.

Players need to be on full pay status for 6 weeks (bye weeks count) in order to accrue a season of service.
