This is already a C grade draft....at best. Not nearly enough talent in rounds 1-4.

Well, I'll wait to judge his ability. But why are we always the ones that draft a guy way higher than projected?

An unbelieveable reach.

I guess this is the bonus of having a great mind like McClay like looking under every rock.

Apparently, he looked a lot.

I blame the NFL for giving them two extra weeks.

Sometimes I think Jerry and company are trying to troll us with these ridiculous reach and horrible value picks. I just looked up some things about this Hitchens guy, and I know this really doesn't mean anything... but at the combine Hitchens had the worst 20 yard shuffle out of any linebacker in the draft. But yeah, a 7th round prospect taken in the 4th round... what a brilliant move

They think he's going to be Lance Briggs 2.0

That's the reasoning, I think.

Never heard of the the guy.

Board meltdown over Hitchens...this board meltdowns with a cough in the war room....LOL

I don't understand it either, but not freaking out about it.
He is faster than Morris. You wanted defense and speed, he has it over the over choices. Not sure how fast Smith is though, or Tripp.

this organization simply does not covet the DT position.. smh

I'm coming to that realization as well. Quarles is there and they pass on him. If Marinelli is that good why not get a pass rushing DT like Quarles.

SMH with this organization.

Well.. after a promising start, this draft has taken a bit of a nosedive. Unfortunate, but we shouldn't be surprised.

Many on this board are not happy unless they're mad

Nobody in this chat knows who this kid is, just because he isn't a name you know like "telvin smith" or "kelcy quarles" doesn't mean its not a good choice. Who cares where he is projected - if you like the player you draft him. You have no idea if anyone else wanted him or where he was ranked on other teams boards

Someone posts this every year after we draft some no name flop.

Maybe they're concerned about Telvin Smith's celebrity status.

Maybe Quarles just isn't that good.

Analysis: Hitchens gets the most from his ability and is a linebacker who stands out in pursuit. He comes with limited upside but will do well at the next level in a one-gap system and Hitchens should be an asset on special teams.

Hitchens on the phone with The Fan - says his agent told him he could go in the 6th.
