EVERYONE CALM DOWN.

Facts:
1. On trade value chart, this trade was fair: Cowboys gave up 600 points to get 560 points.
2. As I wrote in an earlier post today, there were only two remaining highly-rated "quick off the ball" "bend the edge" weak-side DE's remaining in this draft: Demarcus Lawrence and Jeremiah Attaouchu. Neither Ealy, Crichton, nor Van Noy fit the mold of what Marinelli's WDE's require.
3. Lawrence has production, not just potential. 10.5 sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss in 2013; 9.5 sacks and 13 TFLs in 2012. Multiple forced fumbles.
4. Lawrence has potential. Just two years at Boise State. Room to get bigger. Very athletic.
5. Most draft prognosticators had him at a late first round, with him being a hot name moving up to the 20's
6. We had a glaring need for an edge rusher and good ones just are not available later in the draft

Opinion:
1. I love the pick.
2. I moved to Boise three years ago and have watched all of Lawrence's home games in person. On a very good Boise defense, he stood out. He is a playmaker. He gives great effort. And he plays big in big games.
3. For a third round pick, with 6 picks in the 7th round to fill out the roster, I believe it was worth it to get this guy. He's not going to make us immediately forget Demarcus Ware, but he has the talent to be close someday.

That is all.

Great post.

Fwiw, Dallas is getting "A" grades for this move to get a player that some had I the 1st.
He better be good. Real curious to see who is the at 47 and 78...no, cannot be sure both would start.

We pretty much just threw away any chance of getting a legit QB in this draft.

The stupid whining isn't even logical.

Jerry, trade up for Donald.
Idiot Jerry trading up in round 2.
Some guys I guess wish we'd never traded up to select Emmitt Smith.

The same guys saying we should have stayed put to take whoever was there at 46 (who cares that this is the natural speed rusher Marinelli clearly wanted) also say we should trade multiple picks to move back into the 3rd for an unknown entity just so we can be in the third....contradictory.

We had 11 picks. When you target a guy you really think makes you better, you package picks to get that guy...you don't just sit and take whatever...we still have 8 picks left for a total of 10 players instead of 11. Come on guys...a little reality.

He is the second best pass rusher behind Clowney. Basically we gave up a second and a third to get a first rounder. That sounds like a great deal to me.

Sorry, 34th pick is NOT first round. It's not LIKE a first round. It's a SECOND rounder. We gave up two possible starters for another single player. Fun.

If Washington is on the clock and most of the defensive ends that Dallas coveted are all or most are still available, that over paying Dallas trade is going to look even more horrible...
How do you know who Dallas coveted? Clearly they coveted this pass rusher far more than the slower RDE types who would rotate with Mincey. All DEs and DTs are not equal.

I like the player, not sold on the trade rather value or not. But I'll reserve judged for now.
For those who thought we would end up with 3 starters in 3 picks are fooling yourself. Yes it would have added depth. And 1 or possibly 2 starters. But now we have definite 2 starters.

Let's see who is there at 47 & 78. As I said, I don't like the trade, but will wait to see.
We have 11 total picks, now 10. I thought that was a lot of picks and expect all of them to make tgey team, despite the depth we need. 8 picks is even pushing it.

well one thing the trade did was got people arguing and not handing out spoilers on who's drafting who.

Nothing wrong with trading up to get the player you want ... but giving up TOO much is another problem.

Our Arm-chair GM's think otherwise. LOL

And now the Eagles select Jordan Mathews out of Vandy! Probably all-world. LMAO

If there's no run on defensive line players in the next few picks, the trade is going to look shaky.
