pass rush was very thin in this draft. I guess they felt that he was all that was left worth going for. Hope they are right.

Quit sugar coating a turd. Crawford and Bass returning has nothing to do with getting value in this draft class. An unbiased opinion could see that the the trade up and pick is not getting the most value in a draft where the team needs it.

Thank you Bill Belichick. Glad you know EXACTLY what you are talking about... AT ALL TIMES!

The fact that you are saying our 3rd round pick would be an automatic starter, Come on. Really? I really feel bad for some of you.

Your reading comprehension makes my brain hurt.

I never said "automatic starter". I said two starters. That could mean they provide depth for a year and start in 2015, who knows. The point was we could have come out of these first three picks with three guys who at some point would be starters for the Cowboys.

If Washington is on the clock and most of the defensive ends that Dallas coveted are all or most are still available, that over paying Dallas trade is going to look even more horrible...

Which DE's did Dallas covet? Looks like the coveted DeMarcus Lawrence, and went and got him.

I like the player, not sold on the trade rather value or not. But I'll reserve judged for now.
For those who thought we would end up with 3 starters in 3 picks are fooling yourself. Yes it would have added depth. And 1 or possibly 2 starters. But now we have definite 2 starters.

Let's see who is there at 47 & 78. As I said, I don't like the trade, but will wait to see.
We have 11 total picks, now 10. I thought that was a lot of picks and expect all of them to make tgey team, despite the depth we need. 8 picks is even pushing it.

In all honesty, none of us knows whether this trade ise good or bad. It will be a few years before we know for sure.

Funny. How do we know that Lawrence would have been sitting there for the taking at 47? How about Cleveland who the pundits are gushing about mainly in part to the Manziel pick, who just happened to take Gilbert (CB with the 8th pick)? The sky is always falling, ain't it?
You're right, he may not have been there at 47... but I'd sure as hell rather take the risk instead of giving up our third. This draft is so deep, that 3rd rounder is very valuable.

But hey I'm just mad right now that they didn't take my guy I wanted, I'll try to warm up to this guy and not be too critical. But damn, I really think we made a mistake here.

I like the pick, they had to get more athletic on the defensive line.

Well that's what happens when last year Jerry says the D-line was the strength of the team when most of the core guys were in their 30's.

EVERYONE CALM DOWN.

Facts:
1. On trade value chart, this trade was fair: Cowboys gave up 600 points to get 560 points.
2. As I wrote in an earlier post today, there were only two remaining highly-rated "quick off the ball" "bend the edge" weak-side DE's remaining in this draft: Demarcus Lawrence and Jeremiah Attaouchu. Neither Ealy, Crichton, nor Van Noy fit the mold of what Marinelli's WDE's require.
3. Lawrence has production, not just potential. 10.5 sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss in 2013; 9.5 sacks and 13 TFLs in 2012. Multiple forced fumbles.
4. Lawrence has potential. Just two years at Boise State. Room to get bigger. Very athletic.
5. Most draft prognosticators had him at a late first round, with him being a hot name moving up to the 20's
6. We had a glaring need for an edge rusher and good ones just are not available later in the draft

Opinion:
1. I love the pick.
2. I moved to Boise three years ago and have watched all of Lawrence's home games in person. On a very good Boise defense, he stood out. He is a playmaker. He gives great effort. And he plays big in big games.
3. For a third round pick, with 6 picks in the 7th round to fill out the roster, I believe it was worth it to get this guy. He's not going to make us immediately forget Demarcus Ware, but he has the talent to be close someday.

That is all.

other than i'm bored the rest of tonight, hopefully he'll make it up to me on sundays by crushing RGIII :)

Haha I agree. How's life man? Taking my mom out to dinner, the Cowboys improved my night so I don't have to pay attention. Haha. And if he can hit RG3-10 life will be good, and he joins his college teammate, I like when players have built in connections.

Like you said, deep. Does not mean we can't find value in the 4th or the 5th. Big names will still be out there by that time. I ain't gonna worry bout it. My Cheerios will be "pee free" come breakfast time.
