*** Official Jason Garrett Thread ***

Second straight week Jason Garrett's offense had the ball with 4 minutes left and a lead and second straight week they couldn't close it.

Maybe an over-reaction to Romo throwing the pick at the end of the Detroit game. But he could have tried something safer like a screen pass or maybe some slants like in the 49er game. The runs were mind-boggling.

You play the game based on what you have witnessed all day.

In this case, the Dallas defense was shutting the New England offense down.

I don't care if you have the Pro Bowl team out there, when the defense is getting the job done and the offense isn't you go with what brought you that far.

Killing the clock and relying on one more stop was the right call. Now, I don't care for the formations they used because they were pretty much big flashing billboards that Dallas was going to run.

With a weak OL, you cannot allow the defense to stack the box. The OL was having trouble blocking 3 and 4 guys but we ask them and a couple of TEs to block 7-8?

Running was the correct call. Telling the Patriots you were going to run was not.

The opposing QB was Tom freaking Brady. Has he EVER failed in a situation like that at home in the regular season? EVER?

If Garrett called that based on what the defense had done all day, he is even more stupid than I thought. Brady was going to win that game if he got the ball back, 100 times out of 100 times.

We played a good game on the road against a very good and tough team. We didn't execute a couple of times in the redzone and came away with field goals instead of TD'S. Other than that, we did fine. I don't have any blame for anyone, I am proud of how we played. :star:

I'm tired of being losing and being proud of how we played. It's getting a bit old.

Stop being proud of losing games we had every opportunity to win.

Yea running 3 plays in a row only to punt to Tom Brady with 3 minutes left is a great plan.

With the lead and great defensive play, it's pretty good.

Proud of what? loosing again? Im ashamed as all heck at this team, all they had to do was make 1 freaking stop and they cant do that, it was 2-5 on the goal! and they cant get it in. Every fan should be outraged again with this worthless team

I think Garrett did the right thing. What really messed us up was the false start by Smith. From the formation, it looked like the Cowboys were going with a screen before the false start, and by looking at the defense, it was setup to get the first down. After the penalty though, I think Garrett didn't want to risk a turnover and just take our chances with the defense that played pretty well all day, which was another smart play, Had Romo forced an interception, everyone would be calling for his head.

Great game. I don't hate Garrett. But he was way too conservative. But this team will be alright.

Go Cowboys!

I understand the disappointment. But I'm really encouraged by what I've seen.
I think this team is still about a year or two away from a Super Bowl. Our offensive line obviously has to grow in experience. We need a pounder at running back (Trent/Lattimore). We have a new defensive coordinator, and we have some pieces on the offense at the quarterback, tight end and receiver position.
We held the high-powered Patriots to 20 points at home, where it's difficult to beat them.
We have a relatively easy schedule. I say we get back to 3-3 and see what we can do after that.
The division crown is still in sight.
Be encouraged.

I like Garrett. But he tries to be to smart in the red zone. Just line up and go at them! Don't try to run all these cute pointless plays, just throw the damn ball. And with only a 3 point lead over Tom Brady, play to win the game.

I can't think of anyone else to hate on this week, it is all on the coach.

Its funny. We were upset because he wasn't conservative in the Lions game now the complaint is that he's too conservative. lol

This is JG's 4th year as OC. Why does the offense still look so clueless lining up?

Ryan is in his first year as the DC and didn't even have one off season yet his defense look less confused then the offense.

So much for JG getting his players ready to play, better practice habits blah..blah...blah.. This guy is so overrated as an OC. We still have the same problems we have had past 4 years.

same old Cowboys. Heartbreak Hotel. The Red Zone is a major major major issue. Whetehr its play calling, the running game, whatever. so disheartening. had them beat. had em beat. I'm sick.

Situational playcalling

And the Dallas QB is freaking Tony Romo who has failed in that situation, multiple times this year alone.

You put your team in the best position to win. With the lead and limited time, running is not some sort of invitation to be beaten in the last second.

I agree with this.

To count on beating NE is goofy. The Cowboys hung with them and came up just a little short.

The rest of the schedule isn't that hard. 8-3 is doable.

Garrett called the game like he had a 20 point lead, two minutes on the clock and Grossman at QB.

What game is he watching?

Sure get super conservative and ask the defense to hold the Patriots and Brady again to three and out. What dumb butt.

He deserves any and all abuse that can be dished out on him this week.

He played to lose and was successful.

So, if we pass like the other 2 losses with a lead and Romo does the same crap with a pick, then what? Garret did what he was supposed to do. Our line sucks *** with there shoddy run blocking and the penalties are a joke!

You think the situations are the same? If you are up by 20+ points then you can definitely play conservative. If you are leading in the 4th and are inside the redzone and facing Mark Sanchez, then maybe you play conservative.

If you are facing Brady and he still has 2 timeouts and 3+ minutes. You do not try to run the clock out. I will take my chances against the 32nd ranked defense rather than give the ball back to one of the best QBs of all time. Rob Ryan is good, but come on.

Shovel Pass and not one pass to Byrant inside the 10 when you ****ing know all too well you need a TD not a field goal...cause Brady probably is going to do just what he did.

Perfect.

Run it three times, or rely on Romo?? Run three times, the defense was playing great.
