Since there is a hate thread about Pettiti already up I decided there needs to be a support thread for Pettiti. I have faith in Pettiti and I believe he is gonna be a good OL.

I remember last year how so many people in this board quit on Terence Newman. I never gave up on the guy. I got pissed at some of his play but I thought it was just not his year. Well look at T-New now. Try finding a better CB in the NFL. What are there maybe 3 CBs as good or better. Amazing how some of you have not learned from that.

Pettiti dropped from 370 pounds to 325 lbs. Parcells just wanted him down to 335. But Rob dropped down 10 extra pounds. The man works hard. He will work hard to improve.

What some of you just do not even think about is this. Have any of you thought that a big part of the problem could be our OL coach. Seriously. I am just shocked that our OL sucks as bad as it does. When it sucks as bad as ours does then I think you have to also wonder about the OL coach.

Just remember the only reason Pettiti was not taken in the 2nd round was cuz to many teams were worried about his weight problems.

Do not be surprised if a new OL coach is here next year and Pettiti really takes off.

I am not quitting on him. I have faith in him.

I fully support Rob. He's a rook! The kid was just in college last year. He didn't face a true NFL talent every week last year. He lost a lot of weight, he needs to be fully adjusted to this weight and conditioning. Get his strength up. He's learning more and more every week. It doesn't help that LT is now weak. Our QB is slow. He is blitzed against often. You can't fault this kid. I think he's got a great chance of being something special. Give him time, a chance. How many 2nd day picks step in on day one of their rook year and are studs?

Rob is going to be a good one for us, for a long time. To say Rob sucks is pretty much a knee jerk assessment and pathetic at that. To single out Rob is wrong, when the entire O-line has been very inconsistant as a unit.

Perhaps the ex-TE's coach turned O-line coach needs to take some of the blame as well. The O-line performance is indicative of the coaching.

Obviously Parcells thinks he's doing well or he wouldn't have joked that he was always a little dizzy in that pc after the Lions game.

Under the circumstances, he's been impressive.

Nice contribution. Padding your post count I see.

I take it that you do not support Rob or have anything to say regarding his play, or what a very late second day pick should be doing on the offensive line?

I am very interested to know what people really expected from a guy taken in the round he was taken in.

You know, a guy nobody seems to be talking about is Mr. Rivera. I watched him get beat several times last night and one time a Tackle or LB blew right by him. When I re-watch the game sometime this week I will be looking for that play.

I dont know about you guys, but Petitti is playing very well for a Rookie and guy that is learning a new position.

Just imagine how well he will be playing when that LIGHT BULB comes on.

Good question. I know that Rack thinks Marco has been more than adequate. I though have to disagree and saw that particular play that you are talking about. I think it was Trevor Pryce that blew through the line untouched to sack Bledsoe. It was just a horrible play by Marco who seemed to completely move out of the way and didn't block anyone whatsoever.

You got my support as well. Few here have a good understanding with what it takes to make the transition from college OL to the pros. The fact that he not only made the transition but is also starting as a rookie speaks volumes about his potential as I'm quite certain he'll only get better as he gains more experience.

Pettiti may never be a pro-bowler (too early to tell) but I have no doubt that he'll be above-average at his position as time goes by.

OK...I will be serious

I think the guy is actually doing a GOOD job considering this is his first year.

And I am not just saying that because his Father is a member of this forum :)

Yeah, you make me want to go fast forward through the video and look for it just I did a million times the other week for the Roy Williams pick of Mcnabb.

I just remember Rivera yelling at the refs right after the play like he was confused or maybe thought the whistle blew.

I dont want to get rid of Rivera either, he is a nice addition to this team. But man, it takes several years for Offensive Lineman to gel and become a strong cohesive unit.

I think one of the main problems is that 2nd round pick we used on Jacob Rogers didnt pan out. Realistically, Rogers should be in his 2nd year and really coming on as a young pro.

I like Petitti and Rivera because I dont have any suggestions on what we should do or what 7-Eleven store we should visit to go get one.

I expect wiley veterans like Ekuban and Pryce to take advantage of a Rookie. It they couldnt, then shame on them. And Ekuban did have a nice year last year with the Browns.

Sorry, but those guys played well enough to beat an 8-2 team but our kicker just whiffed on a kick.

This is going to get me HUNG, but I am more worried about the Zimmer's play calling (creativity and his overall styel) and Julius Jones.

Also, one of the things I had a problem with was all of these Off-Tackle and Stretch plays we called when running. That defensive front was too quick and agile to be trying to side-step, I would have preferred running more plays right up the middle.

Mark me down as a Pettiti supporter. The guy is a very hard worker, and still has done well with the tremendous amount of weight that has been placed on his shoulders. Not only is he having to adjust to playing in the NFL, but he is having to do so as a starter without a veteran in his position to really teach him. I am sure he has learned some from guys like Adams, Allen, and Rivera, but those guys can't really offer too much help because they are not playing his position. Tucker played the RT spot, but he didn't play it well enough to teach someone else. Also, There isn't much that any O-Line can do when you are getting blitzed by 9 men. The Cowboy problems are not 100% on the O-Line. We need WRs that scare defensive coordinators enough so that they will think twice about sending so many men to blitz.

He can improve and he needs to......but he is certainly not our biggest challenge facing this team.

If someone put up a Marco Rivera sucks thread I would post in it saying how it was a great post and how it is true. Rivera does really suck. There is no excuse for his garbage play. Pettiti is a rook with 11 NFL games played. He wont have the NFL figured out for another year or 2 before we see him become really good.

When I think the players on our OL that suck the names Rivera Johnson and Gurode are who I think of first.

Frankly, whenever I notice gaping problems in the line play it seems to be coming from the left side.
I just don't know if LA can still get it done. Noticed Courtney Brown knife right past him and tackle JJ in backfield at least once yesterday.
I think Pettiti is playing his tail off. He's in an extremely tough position as a young player in a "perform now" situation.

The entire O-line is not playing well as a unit. I will give Rob and Torrin the benefit of the doubt, as they weren't expected to be starting this year.

BTW. Aren't we 7-4 and in the thick of a playoff chase? You would think we were in last place like the E-Girls, based on some of these " the sky is falling" posts.
