First thing i would do is get a new coach.

The one guy id go after is Lovie Smith. I think Kiffin retires after this season. And if Lovie is brought in Marinelli will stay.

Wether we like it or not Dallas will have to continue to restructure the big contracts or cut these players and field a young inexperienced team. I wouldnt mind the 2nd option but I know people would be complaining about it before training camp even starts.

So as if right now with Drake and Lawrence being Waived Dallas is 30,808,611 over the cap.

Restructure Romo to the Min Dallas reduces its cap and is over 18,263,611
Restructure Ware to the Min and it reduces the cap to 6,868,611 over the cap.
Restructure Carr to Min and it drops to 98,611 over the cap
Restructure Witten and Dallas is under the cap 3,946,389
Designate Austin for a June cut to free up 5.5 mil and future cap they are going to need in 2015.. But im not going to count it for the cap just yet.
Restructure Scandrick and the cap moves to 7,716,389
Restructure Free and it goes up 10,361,389
Restructure Mack 12,381,389

Cuts
Durant 13,631389
Irvin 14,361,389
Wilson 15,006,389
Weems 15,576,389
Olson 16,071,389

Now it comes to Free Agency

While Ive seen some people say they'd want Melton. In no way does Chicago even allow him to get to FA. But Dallas has the cap to sign some people who can impact 2014 for the cowboys.

First though, they have to sign their own FAs

Hatcher DT(maybe)
Dan Bailey K
Chris Jones P

I think it will be cheaper to sign these two kickers to long term deals because they cant really tender then as RFA because they werent drafted. They can sign them as a 2nd round tender but thats over 2 mil. So the smarter money would be to sign for 3 yrs.

Greg Hardy DE Panthers
Corey Peters DT Falcons
T.J Ward S Browns

Then comes the draft. and According to AdamJT Dallas is going to most likely be getting 4 7th RD Comp Picks.

RD1 Khalil Mack LB Buff
RD2 Michael Sam DE Mizzou
RD3 DaQuan Jones DT PSU
RD4 Aaron Murray QB Georgia
RD5 Stanley Jean-Baptiste CB Nebraska
RD6 Ryan Groy G Wisconsin
RD7 Ben Gardner DE Stanford

Comp picks
RD7 Ken Bishop DT Northern ILL
RD7 Silas Redd RB USC
RD7 Austin Wentworth T Fresno State
Rd7 Derel Walker WR Texas A&M

don't we save more money if we cut Ware? And how would you restructure Romo at this point?

Hopefully a new coach and we move back to the 3-4 defense.

only way i keep Ware is with a move back to the 3-4. i don't think he can handle the 4-3 at this point in his career.

Do we need Marinelli? looking at our record breaking defensive statistics in 2013 I say we definitely do NOT need him. A different climate and direction on the defensive side is a must. New regime needed in big D and that includes new faces coaching the defense.

no Cutting ware saves around 2mil i think it was. A little more i think. I was suprised that with these cuts and restructures Dallas is actually 3 mil under the cap for 2015. Goign after some mid level FAs would allow Dallas so resign Dez and maybe Tyron before next yr. Giving that ext to Scandrick was a smart move. It gave him 2 yrs more in Dallas and basically ensured that Dallas would be able to restructure next yr if they need to.

Marinelli is a DL coach not a DC. marinelli has been working miracles to even form a DL. Dont judge him by whats on the field this yr. Because he's given these guys from the streets.

If he can get back to being healthy he will be fine. And in a situational role he would be good. Cut him in 2015, but not next yr.

Marinelli has a reputation around the league has a great dline coach. He has zero to work with here.

Funny how talent or lack thereof can make or break a coach's career. I'm for keeping him on with and an upgraded defensive line if they keep Garrett. If not let the new coach choose his staff.

Every body knows Rod is the dline coach. This defense sucks, Marinelli has had his hands full finding bodies for the line, sure. He is a solid coach but in no way is he deemed as a coach we can not afford to let go in favor of a new DC that may want to bring in his own people. New coaching is needed to get the attention of this ragtag defense, which some of the players will be here in 2014. Give me different pieces in 2014 Santa...new DC, new def coaches, unload Ware, Lee, Carter & Clayborne. Love to package the bunch of super star CAP scrubs and get some picks!

I would go for a Guard a little higher to make sure he can start. I do not trust Bernie and who knows how long Leary's knees will last. We probably can only get waters for one more year.

Other than that I like it

not a fan of lovie
no to resigning hatcher
agree with cutting fat contracts (other than romo and witten)

bring in a real HC and let him hire his co-ordinators
no more injured players in the draft
rebuild OL and DL/front 7

Sorry, but cutting young, inexpensive players with upside like Weems before training camp is a dumb idea.

Cutting Ware would save 7.5m against the cap or 12M if they wait until June 1st.

Hardy will be franchised or re-signed.

The draft looks decent but Mack is more of a pass rusher than a 4-3 LB.

There is no Olson on the roster. That is an error on spotrac and overthecap.

I hear you but this group is looking really good. You have opposing teams saying this is the best zone blocking team in the nfl. If its not broke dont try to fix it. I can see a vet or 2 brought in while u develop young talent.

nit pick? Wow!

this OL has played better of late but only someone delusional would think the OL does not require further influx of talent esp if we go to a new offensive scheme

They have zero depth at Guard.

agreed

like other positions on the team, we have capable starters but questionable depth
that is partly why we have the so called december woes
every team suffers injuries, the problem is that our backups arent competitive and other teams exploit that

our GM needs to focus on upgrading the entire roster, not just pick the shiny toy in round 1
