I really liked that we didn't. I don't agree with those that think it was such a priority. We'll be fine at that position.
IMO if you want to worry, concern yourself with he OL. If Flozell isn't Flozell we're in trouble ... and that's a 50/50 proposition.
I agree about Flo, it'll be interesting to see how Brewster comes along in camp.
Excuse the rant. Austin, Hurd, and Stanback were injured last year. Don't forget Roy has missed significant time in his career too. We still haven't been able to find a reliable route runner with great quickness since Terry Glenn blew his knee.
I agree that protecting him is important, but I think Romo hasn't had a WR he can rely on. Owens and Roy were notorious for running poor routes. Owens also had suspect hands. Austin was very raw. Crayton doesn't get much separation. Romo was at his best when he can trust the guy he's throwing to, thats why he and Witten are so tough to defend.
I just think the missing piece of this offense would be Terry Glenn circa 2006. A guy that runs crisp routes and can stretch the field. He was a nightmare to cover on double moves too. Our offense seems to be full of long striders and no one with any wiggle. I heard that Garrett like Eddie Royal and Higgens a lot. I wish we would've added someone from that mold in the middle rounds. Competition can't hurt, and Sherman is one of my favorite coaches on the staff.
We just always seem to be injury riddled at the WR position. Hurts when you don't draft for position either. We've had pretty good success drafting WRs, and I think you've got to take a few chances here and there. Makes me always wonder what might have been with Antonio Bryant.
