Walden and Lattimore doom us?

Well hell, then answer the phones at Valley Ranch you slackards. We're going down in flames.

i swear to god, newbs overvalue the end of the roster waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much. you know if either one of those guys ever got any significant playing time for the cowboys, we would be the same current state that the dolphins are in.

I'm all for adding talent. Who isn't? But you are right, with the talent on this team it's gonna be hard for most guys on the street to get any PT on this talented team. Not to mention we only take 45 to the game which makes it double tough. Even if we picked up a WR he might not be on the game day roster for a week or two until he has time to learn the system and by then we should get Hurd back. Unless it's a big time WR i'm not for just adding guys for the sake of adding guys, and obviously big time WRs are hard to trade for or we would have probably done so by now.

not necessarily,

sometimes the bottom of the roster can help you

example, shanle was picked up from the rams i think, and he sat on the roster for a year, then he was traded best i remember.

that pick turned into a 6th round pick or 7th that was used to draft a pretty good player that is playing for the cowboys now.

so the bottom of the roster does help

just like when the cowboys signed columbo and he sat on the roster for a year, healing up his bad knee injury.

so in those, both ways the bottom of the roster does help.

another example was way back in early 70's, the cowboys signed undrafted free agent drew pearson and the rest is history

Oh, calling Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones, where are those trades that you talked about, with the phones ringing off of the walls?

Forget about Montrae Holland already, did you??

Guess it hasn't occurred to you that most of the calls were from teams looking to get over on the Boys, proposing ludicrous trade scenarios that heavily favored their team... and of course, there's always that possibility that trades ARE in the works...

Nooooo, you seem to want to assume that Stephen Jones was lying when he said that...

Pal, sometimes I wonder if you're six years old, the way you're constantly screaming for instant gratification... if it's not whining about how the Cowboys wait until the last minute to announce their final cuts, it's griping about them not making any trades...

Are you REALLY so dissatisfied with the rsoter as it is?? Seems to me that we have a roster that went 13-3 last year, has remained unusually stable this offseason, and what few changes were made were all for the better...

So lighten up, Frances... go "smoak" some good weed, or something...

Patience, little one. Patience.

Is that photo from the draft? And is that a pint of beer in front of Jerry? I think it's all starting to make sense...

Man O man, i give up.

Please, God, let it be true...

you people are not even open to the idea that this team needs help in some places. it's time to just let it play out. no sense even trying to reason to you we dont need anything people who think we are so good.

Do you have ANY idea how completely annoying your constant pissing and moaning is?? You NEVER have anything positive to say, all do is gripe...

We have 15 players on the 53 man roster who have played in the Pro Bowl in the last two years... that may be more than any other team in the league (I haven't gone through the Pats' roster)...

EVERY team "needs help in some places"... we are not alone in that... you can thank the salary cap for that... I guess you'd trade Romo and Ware to the Lions to get Roy Williams...

no i wasnt trying to imply that stephen jones was lying,

i was just posting

I didnt forget about Holland

what i was refering to was that best to my knowledge, jerry and stephen were saying that other teams wanted some of the dallas cowboys players and that the phones were ringing off of the walls.

i still think by monday or tuesday a trade or two will come down, when teams see (if trades arent already in the works) that teams like miami, and other teams will see that the cowboys didnt leave ball, olgesby, marten, berger, proctor to be released but kept them.

so, if you want them, you are going to have to trade for them.

and i am not 6 years old LOL,

i am 55

my problem and i have gone into this alilttle bit before.

i have spasmodic dysphonia, which causes my thoughts to ramble, along with tightening my voice box and i have spasms in my hands, head and legs,

which causes me sometimes not to put my words together completely

but i am a die hard dallas cowboys fan

not sure if any of you have ever have helped the dallas cowboys win some ball games, but i have, due to the fact what charley waters was doing on field goals holding the football on field goals, i got a nice letter back from tex schramn and gil brandt thanking me.

needless to say the cowboys didnt miss any more field goals that year too

and i have helped the cowboys in other areas too.

They said they had the phones ringing off the hook but they didn't say anything about any of the calls being worth a crap.

I'm sure they had calls. But when u r dealin with dumb and dumber and u r a real nfl gm u know all u have to do is stroke jerrys ego and ask about some scrubs on his oline or his deep secondary in hopes he let's a front 7 guy or a big rb go. I willin to bet the chiefs were one of those teams jerry figured he had a trade with. Who is willin to trade for backup olinemen who can't win a starting job?

Joe, I think Jerry (and to some degree Stephen, from taking Dad's lead) is just so over-optimistic that you have to take what he says with a grain of salt. Like that this is the best coaching staff ever, or that this is one of the most important seasons in Cowboys history, or that Alonzo Coleman looks great and could get play time, or whatever.

Because we are a good team and we do have a lot of talent, I'm sure we did get some calls on people... But that doesn't mean they work out in actual trades.

The thing is, and someone else mentioned it in this thread.... whoever we were to pick up would not be ready to contribute much of anything at all. It will take even the best of them atleast 1 game, more for the other 99% of wide receivers out there, to come in and learn the playbook, gameplan, work with Tony Romo, etc..... By then, Austin, Hurd, and Stanbach will all be coming back.

So why sell the farm for one or two games, especially when the top of the crop is starting.

This just goes to show you what happens when people believe too much of the fluff that they read.

Trust me, everyone is open to it. What gets tired is the constant whine about it instead of a discussion. What is the difference? Real simple. A discussion is usually confined to one thread. A whine is when you go from thread to thread to thread preaching doom and gloom and telling us about your stomach acid reflux problems.

Dude, it just gets freaking old.
