Have you guys ever had a "Fight Club" thread? :)

So both Commanders fans are picking Sean Taylor? The guy has only played a couple of years, not long enough to make an All-Time team IMO. Same for Cooley.

By the time Bruce Smith played for you guys he was at the end of his career, are you sure you would want him on your all-time team? I guess Cowboys fans could select Lance Alworth, Herb Adderley, Mike Ditka, and Forrest Gregg since they all played for us too but none were in their prime. No Cowboy fan would ever want to select Jackie Smith though, we would all rather just forget that he ever soiled the field with his presence.

I am glad to see that you have Pat Fischer on your team. You've got to have the 2 best small CBs ever in Green and Fischer.

Interesting choice between Sammy Baugh and Sonny Jurgensen. Both were great QBs but very different styles (like Staubach and Aikman for us).

HeavyHitta31,

Why the wink next to Breunig? Then again, why do you have two middle linebackers? Then again, why do you even have Breunig? He never played all that well IMO.

My third choice at linebacker would have to be Thomas Hollywood Henderson.

Blaine Nye was good...very good. However, why would you take Nye when John Niland was the premeire guard during his day - going to seven straight Pro Bowls as well as being the only successful first round offensive lineman taken by the Cowboys.

John Niland may be Dallas' most unsung hero.

Basically the FS position hasn't been one from which a great crop of players in Commander history has emerged. And ST is far more athletically gifted than any player to ever don a Skins uniform. True, two years is probably too soon to place him on the list, but I think he'll cement his spot after a few more years.

Yeah...don't know why I put Bruce on there...guess I just wanted to be different. Guess I'll switch him out with Mann like JLG has it.

Hell yeah! I love Pat Fischer...he was one mean sum*****!!

Sammy ended his career with a 187 to 203 TD to INT ratio....not something for an all-time team. He's definitely a great part of Skins' history, and really the game's history in general, but Juregenson just had better numbers. :) If Jurgenson was healthy, we'd have 4 Lombardi's at Commanders park instead of 3...:)

I have updated my All-Time team with a 53-man roster. Many will disagree with my choices but I have some criteria that eliminates some players, namely that they had to have played for us for at least 7 seasons. It is therefore not necessarily a list of the 53 best players but of guys who were with us for more than a handful of years and made great contributions to the team.

NOTE: The number after the player's name is the Pro-Bowls they were selected to.

QB: Roger Staubach-6, Troy Aikman-6, Danny White-1 (I would have preferred Merideth but Danny is also my punter, saving a roster spot).
RB: Emmitt Smith-8, Tony Dorsett-4
FB: Don Perkins-6, Walt Garrison-0, Daryl Johnston-2
TE: Jay Novacek-5, Billy Joe Dupree-3, Doug Cosbie-3 (Witten will make the team in a few more years).
WR: Bob Hayes-3, Michael Irvin-5, Drew Pearson-3, Tony Hill-3, Frank Clarke-1, Butch Johnson-0
C: Mark Stepnoski-3, Dave Manders-2
OG: Larry Allen-10, John Niland-7, Nate Newton-6, Herb Scott-3
OT: Rayfield Wright-6, Erik Williams-4, Pat Donovan-4, Mark Tuinei-2
K: Rafael Septien-1

CB: Mel Renfro-10, Cornell Green-5, Everson Walls-4, Michael Downs-1
S: Charlie Waters-3, Cliff Harris-6, Darren Woodson-5, Dennis Thurman-0, Bill Bates Bates-1 (Bates is my STs guy).
OLB: Chuck Howley-5, Dave Edwards-0, Jerry Tubbs-1, D.D. Lewis-0
MLB: Lee Roy Jordan-5, Bob Breunig-3
DE: George Andrie-5, Ed Jones-3, Harvey Martin-4, Tony Tolbert-1, Jim Jeffcoat-0
DT: Bob Lilly-11, Randy White-9, Jethro Pugh-0, Leon Lett-2, Larry Cole-0

I know many will ask why guys like Charles Haley and Deion Sanders aren't on the team but they didn't play long enough for us to make MY team.

Gentlemen, gentlemen....what if the hurricane was named "Ditka"?

Are we talking an East Coast type Hurricane or are we talking a Devine wind type deal like they talk about in Japan? Also, are we talking Iron Mike like he used to be with Da Bears or are we talking the Mike Ditka that showed up in the movie Kicking and Screaming? Also, is Mike regular sized in this one or is he Mike the halfling?

Landry did say that Nye was the most talented Guard he ever coached.

I would say this thou HH, you have Harris at FS. No way he could play that position IMO. He would have to have been a strong safety IMO. I'd probably go with "Boards" at FS.

I like your list as long as you swap out Bruce Smith. That's like putting Deion Sanders at Cornerback. *shudder* Maybe, we could switch to a 3-4 to accommodate more Linebackers. :)

Interesting, you'd choose Walls over Deion despite the clear difference in talent and productivity (not to mention Deion never took plays off like Walls routinely did). I remember a play in 1987 when Walls just forgot to cover Gary Clark when he was staring right at him. Everson was a natural free safety, and Bill Parcells took advantage of that.

Anyway, I'm assuming you made your choice because of some kind of personal dislike of Deion's style, but then you choose Raphael Septien, a known pedophile? Of course you could also think of Deion as a hired gun, but the man was a Cowboy for 5 years. He certainly acheived more as a Cowboy more than he did anywhere else-- his 1998 season alone was amazing, broken toe and all. In every game of the first half of that season Deion made at least one game-changing play that put us in a position to win the game (we didn't always come through, but he put us in position).

The combination of Mel Renfro and Deion Sanders is the best any NFL team could possibly muster IMHO.

EDIT: Ooops, caught your update. Still, I'd make an exception to the 7-year rule for Deion!
