I have no idea how they got it even on the ballot in AR but it was defeated soundly. Not surprised at all. I could not wait to get the hell out of there and will never go back.

The tax dollars gambling is creating for OK might convince some to vote for legalization. You can get a medicinal script got 2 years online, that's pretty forward.

Texas medicinal is a joke and that comes from the docs I know. They are so stringent on the THC level that patients really get no relief.
Absolutely right. A loved one has MS and the THC level is so low, it does hardly anything. Can't have suffering people enjoying themselves now can we? That would be EEEEEvil.

Per OP...

When I was a kid I had neighbor friends whose dad would literally steal from the kid's piggy banks for gambling money. The father was a bright professor, but with a very dark and all-consuming gambling addiction. Constantly pawning family property. Destroyed the household and family, and broke my heart.

I HATE GAMBLING. Siphons mega billions from poor and middle class to billionaire predators.

I'm agnostic, not religious. And yes I drink too much too often. But I got eyes and this country is becoming a pile of broken people living in tents.

I've seen the needle and the damage done
A little part of it in everyone
But every junkie's like a settin' sun

I feel bad for those of you who are trapped behind enemy lines. Oklahoma, Ohio, Minnesota and Hawaii are all likely to join the 21 other states where it's fully legal.

It's just a matter of time before the SAFE Banking Act is passed (quite possibly this year) which will allow banks & other financial institutions to freely do business with licenced cannabis companies in the U.S. After that it will only be a matter of time before marijuana will be rescheduled from a schedule I to a less restrictive schedule III controled substance, which would free cannabis businesses affected by Tax Code 280E, and allow researchers access to federal funds to research and better determine its medical value.

The flood gates are about to open on an industry that some researchers claim could reach as high as 72 billion by the year 3030, according to Forbes. Meanwhile old fashioned and outdated Texans still believe it's the work of the Devil and still call it "Dope."

The problem is they are not stopping gambling with laws, they are losing tax revenue to neighboring states. It's the same with marijuana, people don't not do it because it is illegal.

I live in a retirement area and when I was diagnosed with stage 4 17 months ago, the biggest surprise I got was different neighbors, that I really didn't know that well, approaching me to see if I had a connection, if I needed one, for the real thing. I am only 40 minutes from Austin, which has been pot central since the 60's, and fortunately have two sons. Funny, I didn't realize when they got into gummis, as children years ago, that that would pay off for me.

Outside interests have deep pockets. Surrounding states who control gambling pump money into local governments to prevent casinos from coming to Texas. That, combined with the Bible thumpers make it an easy target. Same thing with the alcohol and big pharma lobby. They both have vested interest in keeping marijuana classified the same as meth.

That means the weed prices will instantly DOUBLE. My buddy owns a dispensary in OK, and they are praying that it doesn't go recreational.

As a Texan I don't want Marijuana legalized here. There is no medical purpose for it.Its no coincidence that those wanting it legalized for medicininal purposes just so happen to smoke it recreational .I don't want Texas turning into California with brain dead potheads loitering on the streets.
The grid failed due to green energy advocates and more reliance on wind and solar which isn't a viable energy source. That was a once in a hundred year winter event and was an exceptional brutal winter. Texas is having a very mild winter this year. Nothing I said can be refuted.

I have no problem with casinos in Texas.
This is just dumb. There literally won't be any difference. People already smoke openly here like it's legal. Alcohol is legal here, and that's 1000x worse than marijuana, and causes thousands of deaths directly and indirectly every year.

No medical use? :lmao2::lmao2::lmao2:That’s one of the most ignorant things said here EVER! Try and tell a vet that. There are numerous documented benefits of cannabis.

Not as many as are actually valid. A lot of these so called studies are BS. Research that follows an agenda is worthless

Antiquated views here run deep, ~won't go any deeper than that. Heck it took years and years for tatoos to be legalized here.

I'm curious why it would double. It didn't in California, but I do remember the medical being against the recreational. Never got the full understanding about it.

If it goes recreational in OK, then it'll be taxed 25% more. I'm not sure about California. I've been a few times, and I know there are a ton of un-licensed dispensaries there. I'm lucky in the fact I can go up there to OK and shop like I live there and have a medical card. Lol.
