Oklahoma could take another shot at Texas money on Tuesday

They've already taken billions from the Metroplex alone with their casinos in Southern OK. 90% of their clientele at Winstar is from Texas and that was in 2016, when I lived there.

Now, they're voting on recreational marijuana in a special election on Tuesday called by their Governor.

OK already has one of the most aggressive medical marijuana programs in the US with Texas with the very worst. The grade of medical marijuana in Texas is a joke.

At what point is Texas arrogance and pride enough?

200 people died because of their energy grid in the last big freeze. There is a Western Grid, Eastern Grid and Texas Grid that they've boasted about for years. It failed the citizens and they've done nothing to fix it.

If OK passes this, they will accelerate the process because they already have 10% of the population with licenses to buy. And if they pass it, you can look for Texas to do the same stupid thing OK did when Co legalized it, set up a border patrol to try and stop it from coming into the state. They got rid of that AG.

Millions of tax dollars lost to OK and LA because of gambling revenue and now they might be adding one more loss because of their 19th century views on morality. Texas is stupid, they think they can still legislate morality.

Ya know, I grew up in Arkansas and all we drove to OK for was 3.2 Coors.
 
The money from those casinos goes to the tribes which I have no problem with, of course the state itself gets a percentage depending on the compact deal with each specific tribe. I don't look for this vote next week to pass, still quite a few Bible belters here in Oklahoma.

I suspect most Texans will just continue using their local dealers. Transporting drugs across state lines is never a good idea.
 
As a Texan I don't want Marijuana legalized here. There is no medical purpose for it.Its no coincidence that those wanting it legalized for medicininal purposes just so happen to smoke it recreational .I don't want Texas turning into California with brain dead potheads loitering on the streets.
The grid failed due to green energy advocates and more reliance on wind and solar which isn't a viable energy source. That was a once in a hundred year winter event and was an exceptional brutal winter. Texas is having a very mild winter this year. Nothing I said can be refuted.

There are medical uses for marijuana. That’s a fact. The grid failed because natural gas producers failed to winterize their plants properly and they failed. Instead of repeating what you hear from talking heads on TV, do a simple google search for the answers.

I can argue about the medicinal qualities and the other states that have legalized it do not have brain dead potheads loitering the streets. Taken a good look at the streets of Austin lately?

I have no idea how they got it even on the ballot in AR but it was defeated soundly. Not surprised at all. I could not wait to get the hell out of there and will never go back.

The tax dollars gambling is creating for OK might convince some to vote for legalization. You can get a medicinal script got 2 years online, that's pretty forward.

Texas medicinal is a joke and that comes from the docs I know. They are so stringent on the THC level that patients really get no relief.

The medical effects of MJ are vastly over rated. Now as a pain killer certainly better than opioids no doubt; but a lot of the other claims are BS.

And its a simple fact that taking any kind of smoke into the lungs is not healthy.

Some states that have passed medical MJ also have a provision that it is not to be sold for smoking. WV recently passed one and smoking is prohibited. The closest to it would be oils and vaping. However most of it will be oil, pill forms and things that can be added to food while not selling edibles themselves.

Texas is currently the worst state in the country. It’s why I got the hell outta there. Florida is a close second.

Texas and Florida are like many states. You got good and bad.
Lived in both, liked both....however I also went through areas that made WV look like a cutting edge metropolis as well.

But I would take either one over Louisiana or Alabama. If you liked to fish it was nice but otherwise..meh
 
Texas is like the other states I've lived in like Idaho. Boise isn't Idaho anymore than Austin, Dallas and Houston are Texas, they are their own animals. Little Rock is the same, you step outside of LR and it is vastly different, LR isn't high on the hillbilly scale. Tulsa isn't OK to me. Baton Rouge isn't LA.

What is interesting is when you plot the politics in each state is how it differs from the cities to the towns, which gave us the term "stump jumping" in the southern states because few of the governors ever carried the larger cities, they g in the boonies successfully. It is two different worlds.

Many in Eastern Oregon want to secede from OR and become part of Idaho because they embrace the same ideals. Portland, the original Keep Portland Weird, has really been living up to that.

I lived in Dallas several different times for an aggregate of 30 years and each time it had changed. Living where I do now in the Hill Country gives me greater appreciation for Dallas and I wish I'd never left. Lived in Midland for 9 months and that gave me an appreciation for Hell as an improvement.
