OL Next Gen Stats

This is a deceiving stat because if you sort this list by passer rating you will see that the highest rated passers have 'less' time to throw, so this is really an indication of how long until they throw the ball or are sacked/run. So it could be that the WRs aren't open or that Dak simply is reading the field fast enough. Seeing some of the tape breakdown I suspect Dak is just holding the ball too long and is avoiding throws to the sideline, which he is not accurate at making, resulting in the defense taking away the throws he likes in the middle of the field.

Exactly. This stat is total garbage. OR Dak is running for his life and creating more time.

Any fool can see that the pocket is collapsing very very quickly.

And with Zeke and these rushing yards, he did very little until it was too late. Once they went into prevent they were more than happy to give up the runs which is where he started hitting a few long runs. Albeit before fumbling away the game. And who can forget the easy TD pass he stepped out of bounds.

I guess it’s deceiving to say that the OL is not giving Dak enough time but here ya go:

https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/passing#average-time-to-throw

Dak has 2.99 seconds to throw for third best.

Btw, this may be unpopular by some but sack rates are a QB stat. The QB has the most influence on this stat.

Bottom line, our OL is still good and no they haven’t fallen off a cliff.
Top half of the league OL at worst. Probably top 10. Not what it once was, but considering an undersized rook and a fill-in are in there it’s holding up rather well. People need to stop blaming the OL for the bad offensive output. It’s mostly the QB play with the pass catchers being next in line.

Cut Zeke now!!!!!

Making our Dak look bad how could he!!!!

Jerry give America's Cowboy what he wants ....another Dak-victim.......

Yep, look here at the average yards of separation per WR versus the league average. 4 guys are above the league average in yesterday's game. https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/game-center
This isn't the right link, but, yea, guys are open. Swaim, Beasley, Thompson, Hurns all average 2.1 yars of separation or better.

The scheme doesn't do a good job of creating easy completions, but there are open WRs.

It's all of these imo. We haven't had that little clock counter on the side of the screen in some time like we had in 14 and 16. Haven't seen those "massive holes" either that was being made for Murry and Zeke either. All plays a part.

Sure, but if you were listening to Aikman yesterday he sort of bemoaned the offense when Dak couldn't hit the WR on a curl route when the defense was giving up the curl route -- he said that they were basically playing against air and couldn't complete the pass. He made several comments about Dak's accuracy. There were problems outside of Dak, but many of those problems go away if Dak can start to hit basic throws.

That's what people misunderstand about the "time to throw" stat -- it doesn't tell you what happened to the throw.

"Time to sack" is the one that tells you if the sack is on the QB.

I would think it just means that the QB’s who get the ball out of their hands the quickest are the most successful. This stat is taking in account when the ball leaves the hand, not when pressure arrives.

Apparently there isn't a direct link, but if you click the Cowboys game at top and scroll down you'll see that Beasley and Thompson both had more than 3 yards of separation.

Yep and he was right. And he also commented all day about the Oline play. This entire offense is sucks and everyone in it.

Keep Martin and trade Zeke. Everyone else can go as far as I am concerned.

Yea, I found it. Just sharing lol

It appears that you are unable to understand the very simple concept of it is a team game. When your team that is supporting you and the coaching staff that is supporting you is sorry, don't expect to excel.

They LITERALLY....and i can't emphasize this enough....have the WORST skill positions in the league. And it isn't even close.

Repeat that to yourself until it starts to make sense to you.
Seattle is not better than this group.

You have a top 5 RB, and in Austin you have Rocket Jr. if they’d use him for more than jet sweeps

Ive been saying all along that there are so many things that go into sacks.
The decisiveness of the QB is near the top

Percey did point out that the stat “time to sack” vs “time to throw” is different

we had the best o-line coach in the nfl. frank pollack. he coached smith, fred and zack to pro bowl status. he coached la'el colling to play guard and tackle. he restored doug free's career. he coached up Jeremy parnell. he coached up ron leary. and we rewarded him by releasing him. the most inexplicable move of the off season to me. and the result is out o-line is playing like crap.

The OL isn’t a weakness though. It might not be the rock solid strength it once was, but it’s still quite a bit above replacement level. So far arguments sake let’s say it’s playing at a 12th best in the league type level. If you paired that with the 12th best QB and 12th best receiving corps you’re looking at something like Andrew Luck and the Bengals WRs / TEs. You replace Dak with Luck and these receivers with what Cincy has and this is unquestionably a playoff team if it stays healthy.

Instead you have the #32 QB and #32 WR / TE combo. That’s your problem, not your #10-12 OL. You could blow up this OL and dedicate the next three drafts to remaking it and the odds are pretty good you won’t do much better. But improving a bottom of the barrel QB and receiving corps shouldn’t be near as hard.

Aikman made it clear that he isn't at all impressed with Dak's accuracy. But those large cushions the defense was giving our WR may have skewed their average separation. Going into the game Beasley was 67th, Hurns 90th, and Thompson 102nd.

Seattle has a rookie TE who is making plays and Doug Baldwin, who didn't play yesterday. Lockett had more catches and yards than Beasley last year.

Who is Dak throwing to when he needs a play?

Yeah, I didn't understand why we let him go. He is just coaching OL somewhere else, right?

First thing Dallas should do is fire Linehan and Alexander, neither are helping the offense!
