I drink a lot of beer. Usually around 10 beers a day. I rarely drank until 15 years ago when I finally started to enjoy the taste of beer. When I first started it was only two nights a week as that was the only time I had off work because I worked two jobs then. When I retired from the Air Force I took a job where I was on the road 330+ days a year. I started drinking beer every night because living in a hotel is boring. I also started gaining weight like crazy.
A couple of years ago I decided I had let myself go as I let my weight get to 272 pounds. I quit drinking beer for three months and when I started back it was only during the occasional weekend. I also started walking and then running. At one point I was running 5 miles a day until I got planter fasciitis. I got down to 189 pounds. I weigh 205 now and most people say I look a lot better at my current weight than I did below 200. I think I just looked too malnourished losing so much weight so fast.
I'm back to drinking every day. I enjoy how beer makes me feel. I'm separated from my wife after 32 years of marriage so most nights I'm home alone in the house and it's boring. My drinking had nothing to do with my wife leaving. In fact, she was the one who generally purchased the beer for me. I really don't think I'm an alcoholic.as I don't crave it when I don't have it. I also don't get drunk. I usually get to the point where I am tired of drinking beer and I stop for the night. I will probably stop again for three months or so to save some money.
Having said all that if pot was legal in my state and my company didn't drug test m
e I would stop drinking beer today and start using pot. The last joint I had was in Sep '82 the day before I left for basic training but I enjoyed the way weed made me feel much more than what alcohol does.
