GD. I just read this story on Rashaan Salaam. wth, l didn't remember much about him but his demise is shocking. You boys remember him?
He won a Heisman in 94 and was drafted by the Bears...RB..Great rookie year and then injuries ruined his career. I didn't remember much about him...then came across this story on NY times internet site. Anyway, he blew his brains out...shocking at the age of 42. Interesting story about lost hope and what happens to some people that don't reach their own expectations.I vaguely remember him, did he play in the 90s, Haley? NYG? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

I didn't realize this thread had turned into a hang out spot. I love it. Kinda like a neighborhood bar, eh? Cheers! Ha! Where's Woody Boyd?
Yeah, I heard about Rashaan, but I didn't remember him. He looked so happy and hopeful in his younger pictures, though. I am always fearful for the guys who don't quite make it in the big leagues. I always wonder what is going to happen to them. This is definitely the worse case scenario. Always tragic when it comes to be. Poor guy. Poor family.
It's our neighborhood Tavern, all of ours. This way we don't get drunk and go into the other threads and run amok We post music in here, go off on tangents, discuss our personal lives, everything. Everyone in here is safe, and we all get along with each other. It's truly a great thread, and you are welcome here, always, Kim Rose.
As for Rashaan, it's horrible. I've gone through four suicides since we've been back (Battles I went to combat with from Ironhorse 1/11), it's truly horrible. I have fought with those feelings myself, in the past, sometimes the feelings are stronger than other times. I feel for him. I truly do.
We all need some John Denver and a brew, and to remember that life is beautiful during this holiday season.
Cheers, Kim.

Well, thank you, Trouty. Reminds me of the Hiphop thread, a place that we could post music, and we talked and had a great times, just us friends, a safe place where we didn't have to worry about being attacked. lol. Say, do BigStar or RonSprings post in here? They are two of my best buddies on this whole website.
I agree, Trouty. I, of course, don't know what you have been through, but many family of mine and family friends, who survived over there, do. Had family in war since WWI. Concerning modern times, three of my cousins are gone now, all brothers, all overseas in war situations in the late 80s-90s and early 2000's, but all died After they came home. One to suicide '99; one to alcohol and depression pill consumption that led to a heart attack at 38 yrs old in 2013, and the most recent, to a mystery illness that took him in less than 6 months (he died on 10-15 this year). (plus a fourth brother who died in '08 in a motorcycle wreck, a van did a u-turn right in front of him and when he laid his bike down to avoid the collision, the damn van ran over him)...... There is a rap song my son introduced me to, by Eyedea & Abilities, called "Murder of Memories". It's where he met this War Veteran in a park, who was telling him about his experiences in the war, and the man said, "I left the war, but the war never left me." The song is great. Ironically enough, this rap artist actually died from a drug overdose. The guy was so talented. But his mind went so damn deep, you know, to places some people's mind just can't go. I love that. My mind always went too deep, and I love to see when other's minds do, too, makes me feel like less of a freak. lol. Know what I mean?
