Cut the bacon up, thick cut bacon, then put some olive oil in the pan (always use olive oil :)), after about 1 minute throw the cabbage in the pan so it (cabbage) doesn't get too soft. Cook till the bacon is ready, should be about another 1:30 minutes.

Old Irish dish :)

Oh, thank you, Trouty! Sounds delicious. I have written the directions down. Now alls I gotta do is get the stuff to make it. I love sauteing with olive oil. I've cooked with it for years. It is healthy, and does give off a tad of its own flavor into the final meal. :)

Always buy olive oil in a glass container. Kirkland from Costco is amazing stuff. :)

I have always used Pompeiian. It was always in a glass jar, all of these years, but the last bottle I got was plastic. I didn't like that at all. But didn't know there was anything wrong with it. Does it go bad faster in plastic?? I'm concerned now, not just miffed. Haven't heard of Kirkland. We don't have a Costco anywhere near us. Olive Oil is something that I was always leary of trying different brands, because I've heard not all of the companies are good quality. So I've always just stuck to Pompeiian. It's always tasted great and lasted a long time. But if it's in plastic next purchase, I might go with something else for the first time in probably 15 years.

Sadly, Kim, it's no good. There's a slew of fraudulent EVOO out there. Good olive oil ALWAYS comes in glass.
