season will be same old same old . Talented offense , terrible Oline will get romo killed , Murray injured , no play action , no time for the deep ball , lead league in holding and false starts yada...yada

Remember to blame romo again with this putrid oline

And there it is... cooler heads prevail.

I remember Larry Allen getting abused by Reggie White as a rookie.

I know Tyron is no longer a rookie but he's actually the same age LA was at that time. It's DeMarcus Ware. Same way it was Reggie White for LA.

I think he'll be fine. Part of the process. It'd probably help him if things were more settled on that O-line.

When did I say our O-Line will be garbage this year? C'mon man  ... I said our O-Line HAS BEEN horrible for the past couple years so I'm not sure if I should expect anything different this year, though I did say I do think they will be better this year. And yes you're right about us having another year of experience, but guess what, so do the other teams.

As long as injury doesn't come into play, they'll be better if only because of the huge upgrade at C.

Ohh yah, I definitely agree. I think that's the main thing for this team in general to be honest, if our guys can stay healthy then we have a very good shot at playoffs. I really do believe injuries held us out of the playoffs last year, but I guess time will tell if that's the case again this year.

Jordan Gross could be an FA next year. I would not mind looking at him if we could not figure out our OT situation. He can also play Guard. He has said that he didn't think he would play anywhere else but Carolina but I suspect he might consider Dallas. He's from Idaho, played ball in Utah. He's a guy that I think would be a great pickup for us if we could get him.

I would love that.

They'll be a little better. But I don't see them being able to punch it in in the red zone.

Livings and Bernadeau were terrible terrible signings. Par for the course for Jerry but he should have went have to Grubbs that year instead of splitting the money on two bums. Then we'd only have one guard position to worry about for now.

Oh, I don't expect much from the other 3 positions. Maybe Leary can emerge.

Precisely. I actually thought about that last night when I was reading this thread. Had anyone been making snap decisions then, Allen would have been given up on for sure.

Much like Smith, Allen had some bad moments to go along with the good ones. Smith is extremely talented and has played well. He will continue to improve as he matures and learns. I fully expect him to be a regular in the pro bowl.

I'm with you in that I really liked Grubbs. Heck, I liked him for us the year he came out in the draft. When we traded up into round 1 to get Spencer, I thought that Grubbs was by far the best player still left available. However, Dallas had signed L Davis in free agency and I didn't see any way they'd take a guard. Spencer has been solid for the Cowboys though.

Anyway, I would have been ok last year going with a JAG at one guard position if we could have had Grubbs at the other.

Really, so hell freezing over would change anything? Enlighten us Einstein. Man, you are annoying. Say hello to ignore. Hammer that.

It was a joke based on the other poster's history on the board.

Think you need to loosen the belt a bit, lol..

Couple of points:

It takes time for Oline to develop. Smith is 22, has played 2 years in NFL at 2 different positions and now has a new oline coach scheme (more zone blocking style being implemented) - and he's going up against one of the top 3 pass rushers in the league who is healthy and hungry (too hungry in my opinion - rest Ware more please - so he's solid throughout year and hopefully in playoffs!).

One other thing - as fans, especially those that read or listen to EVERYTHING - we have to realize that in a practice where very little is EASY to describe or analyze with true introspection, EVERY blogger is going to point out "sacks" and tweet or write about it - as a highlight of the practice. BUT, how often do you hear when in the dozens of one on one battles that "Smith manages to hold his own and stayed in the way of Ware and Romo was able to release the pass". BORING - nobody writes that. So, eventually doubt starts creeping in about Smith. Same would apply for "drops" and "picks" but nobody writes about - Player "X" was in the right position and made the routine tackle on the play - at least in these tweat summaries.

My BIGGEST issue with oline is the lack of NFL depth the Management/Coaching staff brings in - I don't care how many decent young prospects the team has - the vast majority of the oline either had questionable years (Free, Bernie) or was injured (all the centers/Livings) or are still projects/unproven with a few decent showings (Costa, Parnell, Kowalski, etc). TOO many unknowns and that might ok on a rebuilding 3-13 team, but not for a team that just paid Romo a ton of money, a QB that gets beat up way too often, and a team that has struggled terribly in the running game for a number of season.

You have to bring in a guy or two to solidifi the line, at least for camp, and AGAIN they didn't. They could have had Waters a year or two ago. Last year they cheaped out on the heavy guy that many felt was our best guard the year before - and didn't sign him. This year they didn't pursue Moore or anyone else.
If ANY team needs a few stop gaps until younger players prove themselves or step up - it is this team - but they don't do it and it has cost us last few years...

I do get "getting younger" but you need to get better and establish some depth...Too much hoping and not enough of a back-up plan when these guys start dropping like flies half of them are known to have pre-existing conditions and even Leary - who is now to be our saviour at Guard - already has degenerative knees - and who knows when that could cause issues. And we expect Smith to be a pro-bowler while lining up a who is who Guard beside him week to week?

I am not going to lose sleep over a rejuvenated Ware getting the best over Smith...do you really think that there is anyone in the league that wouldn't get abused by a healthy Ware if they had to go against him for hours at a time?

Going against the best guy in the league everyday in practice will help Smith. He is still young. Heck he couldn't even buy a beer to celebrate when he was drafted.

If Leary can step up to starter level, that would give the line three young talented linemen. Two more would finish the job. I wonder if maybe another good prospect would have been found if Dallas would have went after some if the undrafted free agents after the draft instead of castoffs from the previous years linemen who couldn't make other teams. Luke Marquart would have been a good prospect at tackle for example. The 49ers signed him and have high hopes for him when he recovers from injury.

You are too optimistic. I see five pieces of garbage on the OL.
