Huh?
Only the ledge-jumpers are overreacting to yesterday's training camp... And that's due to the sacks that were given up.
Of course there is total disregard to the parts about how well the line blocked yesterday for the running game.
There is equal disregard for frequent tweets and articles talking about the positive play by Free, Arkin, Leary and Frederick.
It's more fun to talk about the total offensive line failure since 1904 and how the Cowboys haven't put any resources into it over the past decade.
I wouldn't really say that nervous is an accurate term. Most fans realized that it is a major problem and expect it to hold the offense back. It is not a question of if it's a problem, the question is how big the problem will be. Before injuries, upgrades were needed. After injuries the concern becomes fielding linemen that shouldn't he on a NFL roster. It can ruin the Cowboys season again, much like the dline. The trenches are still the problem.
they have invested resources with the likes of Livings, Bernardau and Free, not exactly top talent in my humble opinion.
Free has done well in camp so far.
The other two? We don't even know if either will be a starter.
guys like Arkin and Leary will start by default. Not a managerial move, we don't have a choice.
That's not necessarily true.
Like Broaddus has said that the Cowboys brain trust was pulling for Leary starting over Livings since camp opened.
And Bern could still be the starter at RG.
OK, so we planned for this? Right. No, I'm not buying it. We could use Costa at Guard which is not necessarily bad IMO.
ive been at almost every practice . i live in so cal and i can tell you first hand the cowboys are worried about the OL. Mickey spangnola said they are really panicking and stephen jones said it on his radio show today . It has not been better this year so far. Im a diehard cowboy fan . Not a troll at all but i tell it like it is. Our OLINE sucks and until we fix our run game wont improve from 31st.
Vela:
Ronald Leary took his spot as starting left guard, with Nate Livings out. Leary was solid in pass protection, part of a line which again gave Tony Romo time to stand in the pocket and work his progressions. With the exception of a defensive red zone drill, where the offense tried unsuccessfully to move the ball forward from its own 2-yard line, the line did its job.
It also started creating more run creases for the back, both to the left and right, and inside and outside.
I heard earlier this week, before Nate Livings' knee woes, that the front office hoped that Leary would win the left guard role. Leary is now running with the ones. With the other four starters, Smith, Frederick, Arkin and Free all working together from day one, the line is light years ahead of the '12 bunch, which did not get its projected starters on the field together until the last days of the preseason, and just as quickly lost them to injury.
That improved continuity is showing results.
Doug Free: He looks very settled into Bill Callahan's system, far more so than a year ago. He knows it so well now that he's mentoring all the backups at his spot and on his side of the line.....Free is not getting much correction on his technique, and he's getting better at creating a push on his edge every day. That's a continuation of his December '12 work, where Free started to excel in the run game. If he can keep his pass protection in sync with his run blocking, the RT spot should be solid.

*Newsflash* We interupt this program to announce that HELL has frozen over, I repeat HELL has frozen over. We now return you to your regular programming.
season will be same old same old . Talented offense , terrible Oline will get romo killed , Murray injured , no play action , no time for the deep ball , lead league in holding and false starts yada...yada
One issue that is being overlooked is fatigue.
They have had about 9 OL available for most practices for 5 positions. That's not even enough for 2x depth.
They have had about 15 DL available for most practices for 4 positions. That's almost 4x deep.
Did somebody hack Burm's account?
Ignore the issue in the off season - this is the result.
Almost all the picks came against Orton. If we lose Romo, we aren't winning anything anyway. Might as well just go with Tanney as #2.
Despite the sacks, the offense did move the ball in 1's v 1's and scored several TD's, so while the sacks are frustrating, the potential of this offense is being seen.
