Twitter: Oline winrate

Burrow would love to have our awful offensive line, lol. Between Dak and Rush, there’s at least 20+ quarterbacks that have been sacked more than our guys combined

Yep. Do an anonymous poll of QB's around the league & I think you get very different results.

Interesting. I wonder how they got their numbers?

Football Outsiders have the Cowboys Oline ranked much differently:

3rd best in power run blocking, and 7th best in pass protection...

I trust Football Outsiders WAY more than this win rate bs.

Cowboys- tied for 2nd in least amount of sacks given up with 12 and ranked 6th in sack %.

I'll take it.

Can you explain how you get to this conclusion?

Someone is clearing lanes & it's often McG when I watch the games and he certainly isn't the turnstile that CWill was in pass pro.

Funny you say you watch games then call Cwill a turnstile. Cwill may not have been all pro at run blocking but he was dam good in pass protection. Which is one reason he has turnedinto one of the better centers this year.

I want to see how this is calculated. There is absolutely no way we are the worst PB team. I honestly would find it hard to measure that. So many variables to consider, such as how long a qb holds the ball. Or quality of receivers, or defensive scheme

No way are we dead last in pass protection. We in the mid teens at the least

Spent a minute searching and found this.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/in...nsive-lines-ranking-pass-block-win-rates-2021

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...aderboard-win-rate-rankings-top-players-teams

A few years ago, ESPN Analytics developed pass block win rate (PBWR) to measure how often individual players and teams sustained their pass blocks for at least 2.5 seconds, using player tracking data from NFL Next Gen Stats. That was backward-looking, but let's flip it forward to project every team's pass block win rate for the 2021 season.
Do they get a win if the QB gets rid of it in 2 seconds?

I'm pleasantly surprised at our OL play based on the "eye test". It almost seems as if our OL has gotten better game by game. These "advanced" stats continue to baffle me. As coaches and scouts, why would you need these so-called stats if/when your eyes work?

For those of you wondering this is not based on sacks, it’s based on someone on the OL losing a rep in less than 2.5 seconds.

While we’re ranked fairly high in number of sacks given up, there is also some context there that we’ve been fairly run heavy and the O game plan early was to get the ball out fast.

Is this "Defy" the people who ranked it?

yeh Not all of these " stats' sites are even reputable. They'll just throw darts in the dark and get someone's attention.

that's why some need to be careful and not buy into whatever stats are thrown at them, and believe the first thing they hear.

are you sure you dont have that backwards? https://thelandryhat.com/2022/01/06/4-cowboys-pff-top-free-agent-rankings-gallup-gregory/ according to this article he was a solid run blocker but not great a pass protection. the guy had 15 penalites in 2021 and most of those were holding on passing plays.

Biadasz has improved as the season has worn on. PFF had him ranked 9th in the league at C last time I looked.
McGovern, meanwhile, has been decidedly worse than average. Swappin him out for Peters is a big jump forward. Maybe McGovern can get his mojo back at FB.
Me, I want to see us go Jumbo Jumbo again, especially if Tyron comes back. Dlines compete through rotation. Keeping them on the field against lots of quality oline should wear them down quickly.
Ravens are taking full advantage of the heavy FB.
Patrick Ricard lines up in the backfield and looks like a huge FB rather than just an OL playing FB, but plays OL .
McGovern looks like an OL trying to play FB.

Not sure how you can say he was darn good in pass pro while he was here. If there was a breakdown in the middle, it was usually him.

He did start the season well for Miami at center. I haven't watched their recent games nor checked the stats. If he proves himself a good center, it does pose questions as why our coaches couldn't get it out of him.

I wonder what that would look like during plays were the QB was Dak and the RB was Pollard.

At this point those numbers would seem more relevant.
