It seems pretty clear that through all the ups and downs, the good, the bad and the mediocrity of the Garrett Era, one thing could be said of his teams, despite the results- they fought hard for 4 qtrs, every game.

But the noise surrounding this team, now in the 8th full season of Garrettsville, and with a weak 2-3 start, we must start to wonder if this team is tiring of the “process”. It might be different if there were some big signs of hope, like a star offensive player coming back, or some new spark to be seen in recent games. They just aren’t there.

I’ve followed the Cowboys every year since 1964. The place we are at now reminds me of the ‘87 and ‘88 teams under Landry, who was one of the top 5 greatest coaches in NFL history, but was trying to rebuild a team without much to work with. It reminds me even more of 2010, when Romo was hurt and the team had basically seen there was no way forward with Wade Phillips. They became disheartened and cashed in their chips. They quit on Phillips. It was essentially the end of an era started by Parcells in ‘03, but ending in 2010.

The Garrett era officially started in 2011, and after 7 seasons and some change, this team has had two playoff appearances. And the future doesn’t exactly look like a road to the super bowl. Sometimes, the magic just doesn’t happen.

It must be said that this team hasn’t quit on the Clapper just yet. But I think he’s on life support. If this team gets whipped at home against the Jags, and the boo birds descend on Jerry’s sacred “stayjum”, the “Quit Watch” will be on full alert.

Mr. Hall of Fame “contributor” MAY soon face a cold realty- a team that is no longer listening to the red headed robot. If that happens, whether Jerry accepts it or not, the Garrett experiment is over. It will agonize him and frustrate him, but Jerry fears losing paying customers more than he fears losing. If boos and empty seats start showing up, the clock is ticking.

Tick, tick, tick......

This is the greatest myth of the JG era. Between all the games they came out flat and all the games they got blown out in the second half, it's absolutely not true.

And playing hard is an EXPECTATION, not an achievement. The Dolphins played hard for Dan Campbell, doesn't mean he was a good coach.

We'll see how they do with long time guys slowly retiring over the years. No more Witten in the lockerroom.
Will guys like Smith and Martin try to control the attitude?

Good post, Mr. Hazy. I think the WRs are the first cards to fall, followed by the the guys on STs who start on defense. From there, once the outcome of games get worse and worse, the bottom will fall out quickly.

It will take the players pulling it together. If they decide they are done then it’s gonna get ugly. I think if JG was to throw Linehan under the bus now and get this Offense a new OC then it may just save his HC job. That’s just my opinion. JG has to be feeling the heat unless he and JJ has already talked and he knows he is safe.

it is shocking that that they haven't quit on him already - but, you can see lazy plays happening like Zeke two games ago that are costing the team...

#Garrettmustgo

The hoopla with Dez isn't helping. The wideouts are speaking out already against Garrett and Dak to varying degrees. WRs even Hurns seem loyal to Bryant not Garrett and Prescott who are too quick to cast blame on them as a group.

He will never lose the offensive line because that isn't in their personality. Zeke likely won't say anything either. Tight ends aren't veteran enough to say anything.

The biggest question is what happens on defense? Will players like Crawford and Lawrence start speaking their frustrations?

Well, we have the first sign all is not happy in the Highland Park Hillbilly camp with Booger's really stupid remark about the 4th down call in OT. That is the first time we've seen a crack in the relationship but worse than that, the players saw that as well. He's been Booger's third son and while they all knew who buttered their muffins, they knew he was the chosen one. Now, it could get really nasty.

Before this season began, I said no way he fires Garrett, he's family and Booger is too comfortable with the arrangement. Now, I am not so sure he and idiot boy child aren't discussing what other coaches might make Booger just as comfortable.

Bullet, we're just getting ready for the show. The little car is just pulling up to the center ring, we just don't know how many clowns are getting out.

A significant problem for the organization is the guys out there on the field can watch tape and also diagnose what the problem is only to see the same old BS scheme run by the same cast of characters every week with the HC preaching the same old BS mantra that was dead years ago. There is only so much of that a professional can take.

Jerry's comment let the players know it's ok to call out the coach, so this is the mess we have now.

This is all at 2-3 with the division leader at 2-2, you imagine what it's going to be like if they're 2-6 or even 3-5?

This is what's so stupid about Booger's remarks about the 4th down call and Dez, none of this is helping his team.

Yes, one of the dumbest things I've seen him do. Even when coaches were reeling and it was evident they were headed out, we never heard owners or GM's commenting. Let alone a hands on owner like this one.

His team is 2-3 and 1/2 game out with 5 more division games to go.

I don't know that I have ever seen any HC make as many blunders on 4th down calls and in 4Q's as Mike Smith with ATL. He actually had Ryan trying to talk him out of going for it on one 4th down, what QB does that? But we never heard anything publicly from Blank about his bad calls.

I know a lot are pissed and calling for Garrett's head but aren't we seeing what the real problem is? How in the hell does that get fixed except by the grim reaper?

It is clearly time for a reboot. We spent the better part of the last 6 years building the greatest offensive line ever assembled for the greatest RB ever with a QB that is most effective running the ball and we punt it away on 4th and 1. Why even bother at that point.

Yeah I want Garrett gone, but Jerry does not help him, nor does he help in the hiring of future coaches. Who's gonna come to this circus?

This should all be behind closed doors. You don't publicly undress someone like that.
