Just before the season started, I started a thread highlighting the importance of a NT. A lot of people here tried to mock me and make me look like a dunce. Yes, they're not as important as a QB. However! We are seeing all season why NTs are critical. We can't stop the run! Teams are running the ball on us at will, which is putting our pass defence at a significant disadvantage. I think we put a dagger in our season when we got rid of Ridgeway. We lost a player that could swallow up blocks and help protect against the run. Then, we also lost Hankins to injury. Where we were strong defencively was we had Ridgeway and then Hankins helping to shut down the run, which then set our pass defence up to attack. That was why Parsons had success before, but is now struggling to get after the QB.

If we are going to have success, we MUST take NTs more seriously. We need to draft a NT within the first 3 rounds. That will help us shut the run down, and then our pass defence can pin their ears back. Until the Cowboys take NT more seriously, we are going to break down defencively every season because we will be unable to stop the run.

I heard NT is the most important position on a team. Not QB, not RB, not kicker, not WR, not DE, but NT.

It's even more awkward that we fans know this, but Jerry doesn't. It's a huge need, and he's never really addressed it. The reason I was excited when we had Ridgeway wasn't because I thought that he was some top notch player. It was because he had the ability to at least create a push to help stop the run. That's the bare minimum that we need from a NT

100%

Also I liked ridgeway because he played in a legit conference for DTs in college instead of another big XII failure

I hate to say it but CB is a glaring weakness . Either a premium draft pick or throw the $ you don’t resign Schultz with and put it into a corner opposite Diggs.

That wasn't the point of that thread, and you know it.

Yup, and it made me think that they were starting to take it seriously. I hope they see now why it's so important.

For some reason this team doesn't value the position at all. Personally I'm getting tired of teams gashing this defense when it matters most.

Rams did it in the playoff game a couple years ago. San Fran did it last year.

And even though Tampa is an awful running team, I expect them to be successful against us if that's who we wind up facing in the first round.

This team thinks they can twist and stunt to make up for their lack of size. All that does is leave gaping holes that teams see on film and exploit.

I don't see Jerry doing that. I fully expect them to keep trying to find "value"
This. Jerry and Stephen don't want the best players. They want the best players for what they can sell as a great deal or a draft steal. It's hopeless for us fans because they will never change. Competitiveness is all that as matters.

Yup, and it always bites us by the end of the season.

Hence, my thread, and will McClay sucking… John Ridgeway, total flop… He’s never drafted a quality, big man in the middle

Though, Ridgeway has actually been decent with Washington. All we really needed from him was just clog the middle.

Linebacker . They don’t seem to trust Cox and Devin Harper rookie yr is just about over .

Yes, but a NT would help the LBs

They need to address DT for sure and it could be a truly elite defense if they ever solved that. Need a true run stopper and a disrupting 3T. Oh and ignore the poster who pretends to be British. Totally useless.
