When the Cowboys had this level of dominance on their oline, they did nothing with it. When you have an elite oline or dline in the trenches you have it made and need take advantage of it. Cowboys didn't b/c Dumb & Dumber stuck them with a head coach learning on the job. A coach who can't even get a college gig a few years after having the keys to the richest franchise on planet Earth for an entire decade. There is a lot of shame in this franchise the last 20+ years, one of the lowest for me is not winning anything of substance with The Great Wall of Dallas. Truly shameful looking back.

Yeah.

It makes you wonder where the weak link was on the offense when we had those guys in their prime when compared to the Eagles right now....
The weak link was the puppet head coach and an ownership group that sat on their hands b/c they thought the good times would last forever instead of getting aggressive in FA, upgrading the defense, and striking while the iron was hot.

Won't matter. The cowboys only use half their bag of tools to make a team and refuse to use the rest. They've made some really good offenses and then let the defense goto junk.

Who cares about them it's the d line! We think our guys are good, they're great!!! They get pressure when it's needed not just on 1st and 10

No offense to the OP, but the mods should just start a thread entitled I'm Jealous of the Eagles because......and merge all of these loose Eagles threads. Long story short, any Cowboys fan bringing up the Eagles right now does so out of pure jealousy and times are embarrassing enough.

We run a different system than the Eagles.

Their Olinenis better than ours but not many teams can say that.

Our Oline is fine. The league is general has terrible offensive lines and we aren’t one of those teams.

2014 and 2016 were huge missed opportunities. When you play a physical brand of football up front, it covers up a lot of sins with your team. You can run better, you can pass better, and you can cover better.

As for Garrett, I'll never understand. This is the same guy who was fired mid season in an OC role by the middling Giants. He has peaked in his new TV role, and he's awful at that at best. But hey, we scratched, clawed, and fought during his tenure  Jerry Jones has screwed a lot of pooches over the years and has made even more questionable decisions. But I can never and will never forgive him for how long he let Jason Garrett stick around. It's truly a travesty. I think about it all the time and it still makes me mad, even 3 years after his dismissal.

To say nothing of the wasted Hall of Fame careers of multiple great players.

Nobody did less with more than Jason Garrett.

And Jerry Jones held a masterclass in how to stick with failure in the hopes of eventually being proven ‘right’.

A trait that continues to this day.

Where would our Cowboys OL unit rank in the NFL right now ...?

I mean these teams are pretty even. Why are you so bent out of shape?
These are the only positions the eagles are better than Dallas:
  • GM
  • Coach/OC
  • QB1
  • RB unit
  • WR unit
  • TE1
  • OL unit
  • DL unit
  • DE
  • Defensive Front overall Depth
  • CB group
  • K

We had good offenses with that OL

It was the defense/defensive line that sucked during that era

Philly is strong in both trenches
Exactly!

During that period, the Cowboys were one of the very worst teams in the league for dead money, multiple years in a row. They were really in salary cap hell. Difficult to be aggressive in free agency in that situation.

I dont think that was true. I believe they had some issues with dead money but it wasn't "hell"
