Lurir is also a meddling owner. The difference is he puts qualified people in place to run player and coaching staff. He second guesses them after the fact. That wore on Pederson.

It’s the GM that is the difference. Name me 1 key free agent the Cowboys brought in while Dak was still on his rookie contract. And then look at what the Eagles have added over the past 2/3 years. That’s the difference
Which is the main reason why I question whether or not the Joneses would be willing to go all in and get aggressive in free agency in the hypothetical scenario that the Cowboys could get out of Dak's contract and draft a new QB. Because even with the clear evidence of the last two NFC teams making it to the Super Bowl, due to their GMs getting aggressive and going all out in free agency, we still have the Joneses giving interviews implying and insisting how their way is still the best way to end the Cowboys Super Bowl drought.

In order to change their strategies of how they approach off season roster building, the Joneses would have to admit that how they were doing things was wrong and I'm not sure they can let go of their pride in order to do that, unless they prove otherwise. The Joneses may prefer to keep Dak around, in part because it allows them an excuse and scapegoat for why they are so cheap and non active in the off season when it comes to going after the best available free agency players. Them letting Dak go, would make it harder for them to trick some fans with their excuse that it's Dak who is holding them back from getting aggressive in free agency. When they know deep down they would be hesitant or slow to do anything aggressive, even if they could get the next Cowboys QB on a cheap rookie contract through the draft.

When the Cowboys had this level of dominance on their oline, they did nothing with it. When you have an elite oline or dline in the trenches you have it made and need take advantage of it. Cowboys didn't b/c Dumb & Dumber stuck them with a head coach learning on the job. A coach who can't even get a college gig a few years after having the keys to the richest franchise on planet Earth for an entire decade. There is a lot of shame in this franchise the last 20+ years, one of the lowest for me is not winning anything of substance with The Great Wall of Dallas. Truly shameful looking back.

I am absolutely jealous of the Eagles. You know they're going to catch up to us on the number of Lombardi trophies, right?
OK, all of you have figured out I’m an Eagles fan, I never said I wasn’t. But if you had to live on the difference between how good the Cowboys are and how good the Eagles are you’d starve to death. Possibly the Chiefs with Mahomes will win a string of Lombardi’s during Mahomes’ tenure. The Eagles, over time (75 years), will win five Lombardi trophies, not in my lifetime. And truth be told, Dak is a damned good quarterback. So is Hurts. I wouldn’t bet either ends up in the Hall of Fame. Eagles fans are jealous of the Cowboys. Dallas has been more consistently competitive over the last three decades. We’ve got no, well, not many, complaints. And I appreciate Cowboys’ fans frustration, because I became an Eagles fan in 1965. Dallas is a great franchise, everyone knows it. You all support the team so you have every right to criticize. Lord knows we boo the hell out of the Eagles when the spirit moves us. It’s fans’ prerogative. Note, the longtime NFL fan in me says Chiefs 27 Eagles 21. The longtime Eagles fan in me prays I’m wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but only one of those guys was drafted in round 1.
Yes they did special on espn or maybe Chris simms talking about this.

Only Lane johnson was a first round. Their LT is 7th. Center is 6th. All drafted, with 2 HOFers and rest proBowl level.

BUT, cowboys have had units like that in past over the years.

OLine is the EASIEST unit to achieve that feat with, as their careers are so long.

That said, the driving force behind that line (and team) is their oLine coach. One of the best ever, and has zero desire to climb coaching ranks. Just LOVES coaching oLine.

I am generally curious to see how Hurts plays Sunday. He didn't look all that sharp in his two games post injury. Philly steamrolled both the Giants and 49ers but not because Hurts just lit both teams up. He really looked off in both games.

Fletcher Cox. We passed on him.

Javon Hargrave. We signed Poe/McCoy/HaHa instead.

Eagles cant cover TE or the middle of the field. Mahomes is going to eat up their soft zone and blow them out. At least I hope they do ....

Team game.
The 2014 playoff dline was abysmally bad.

Terrell McClain was out on an already thin dline rotation. We went to the game with only 8 dlinemen.

2 players never played another NFL snap.
4 more were out of the league by the end of the next season.
All these rejects accounted for 3 100% positions on the dline for that game.

Snaps in Game/Snaps Remaining in Career/Years Remaining in Career
31/0/0 Anthony Spencer
18/0/0 Josh Brent
22/35/1 Ken Bishop
37/370/1 George Selvie
46/380/1 Jeremy Mince
50/580/1 Nick Hayden

22/lots Demarcus Lawrence
46/lots Tyrone Crawford

How odd.
High PFF scores correlating with a quality oline.
It's almost as if PFF scores *aren't* worthless.

K/C and Mahomes will stop that. And Mahomes will officially be the 3rd best QB in NFL history. With years to go.

LT Mailata - 7th round
LG Dickerson - 2nd round
C Kelce - 6th round
RG Seumalo- 3rd round
RT Johnson - 1st round

O-line coach Jeff Stoutland is the reason. The Eagles just extended him again. As long as he is there, they will always have a good to great oline.
