The Giants invest in the DL. You'd think with us transitioning to the 4-3, we'd have drafted a DL or acquired more than just free agent types. Look at the 10 DL the Giants have on their 53 & compare them to ours:

Jason Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck, Mathias Kiwanuka, Damontre Moore,Linval Joseph, Cullen Jenkins, Shaun Rogers, Johnathan Hankins, Mike Patterson, Justin Trattou

JPP has been good.

Tuck has seen better days. When a guy starts saying he needs to get back to how he was 3 years earlier, it may be time to make retirement plans.

Kiwanuka has been a LB for a few year until they moved him back this season. I have yet to see a good pass rush from him, and he's not very solid against the run.

Moore ran like a 5 flat 40. I think every DE we have on the roster ran a better 40 than that. He had one year of doing well in college and one terrible combine. It isn't often a guy goes from top 5 in the draft (which is what people were saying in January), to the 3rd round. Now THAT is a bad combine.

Linval still hasn't done much to impress me. Until he plays well he was just an over drafted guy.

Jenkin used to be pretty good, but didn't do a whole lot for Philly. He's getting older too, so I wouldn't expect too much from him.

Rogers has been around half the league. He's a good run plugger but that's about it.

Hankis is a rookie that slid.

Patterson has had serious brain issues. Before that he was just a guy for Philly.

Trattou is... wait, who? Uh, I don't really know him.

So, what about that line-up is supposed to cause me fear and consternation before the first game? I'm not sure.

Giants have the deepest Dline in the NFL they have a legitimate 7 guys who are starter quality making their rotation very difficult to deal with because they are all fresh and an injury to 1 or even 2 guys doesnt really hurt them that bad while an injury to 1 or 2 of our guys crushes our dine....disappointing

We should just forfeit. No way we can beat that DL. Oh wait we beat them last year and were a finger away from sweeping them.

Can't wait for the first time they line Tuck up at DT and Fred beard buries him

In years past, I'd agree with the OP. Right now, with Crawford in the lineup, I'd like our guys better. Without him, it's close.

I agree. I'm worried about our overall depth as well. This game is going to be a shootout and the season is way too long to depend on our starters to show up every play, every game until January. Seems like we have some depth but not in the right places and the trenches are very thin. Just keep praying for a healthy season!!

Meh, I like Ware, Spencer, Ratliff (after week 6), Hatcher way better than the first 4 names on that list.

Exactly. Not that I expected our line depth to be comparable to NYG overnight, but at final cuts, I did expect more than Nick Hayden (starter), Kyle Wilbur, Ben Bass, Landon Cohen, George Selvie.

Yes the difference between the two teams now a days is that the GIants have been winning Super Bowls. Dont worry what ails the Giants, they will overcome it, worry about what Dallas hasnt done. And we ll go from there.

We have better starters but they do definitely have better depth. People are hating on Damontre Moore but I think he is gonna be one of the steals of the draft. Their starters are aging but they have some young potential to build around JPP in the future.

The Cowboys ran a 4-3 for a lot of years under Jerry. I think he understands that you need to invest heavily in the DL in this defense, and I think you'll start seeing that in the draft this spring. The concern is that he's not picking this generations versions of Shante Carver and Kavika Pittman.

The Giants have the best defensive line in the NFL. I'd say our starting 4, if Ratliff was playing at his previous Pro Bowl level, would be a notch above their starting four. However, up and down, there isnt a team in the NFL that can compete with that rotation.

However, there are 11 players on defense. The rest of their defense is marginal, if not terrible. They might have the worst starting linebackers in the NFL, their corners are the definition of average, and their safeties are just bad.

If we're going to run the ball we're going to need to use the ZBS effectively because that front will blow us up. We should be able to throw the ball all day though and I predict Dez will have a monster game.

If Jerry pulled moves that the other Jerry made, he'd get killed for them. Giants fans HATE how much D-Line attention (especially at D-End) attention this team gets. Yes, the Giants have a good D-Line, but they've had a terrible secondary, and old linebacker and O-Lineman through that stretch.

Giants D Line isn't as scary as it once was.

This is the weakest team they have started a season with in awhile.

I think we're better than them.

Even if we choke game 1 away I still think we'll have a better year.

It will be Dallas and Washington for the division.

You point out everything wrong with their D line but they have a much better D line than us. Outside of Ware and Spencer we have very little

i usually agree with or can see what your trying to say but this time i got to say i totally disagree, if the giants have anything its a good dline.I'd love to have that kind of depth on the cowboys. Jenkins is back to playing a technique he was good at instead of that wide 9 bs the eagles had him doing. I'm not saying he's great but he's more than serviceable. And Linval Joeseph is a moose of a man very difficult to block and move out of holes, clogging up the middle, something Sean Rogers can do well too in a limited role (15-20 snaps per game) and I think their ends are solid too, JPP is a stud, your right Tuck has seen better days but can still provide quality play while they limit his work load and keep him fresh. Moore looks like he is gonna be a player too, 40 times for D Ends is a very overrated measureable because how many times is a d end running 40 yards on a straight line during a game? (hopefully not too many). Kiwanuka is a pretty good option as your 4th D End if he's healthy. As much as I hate to admit it they have a significantly better Dline as a group than we do. They have 7 quality rotational players that are serviceable to elite (if JPP bounces back he is an elite pass rusher). I think our D-line is okay. Starters are good, but no real depth which scares me with the older guys like Ware who tends to fade as the year goes on with injury or fatigue or whatever it is hasnt been the same player late in the season as he is at the begginning. I think its because he's on the field every defensive snap. Having a quality guy to back him up and let him rest 10-15 snaps a game would keep his legs a little fresher for a whole season at his age, he is right around that age when pass rushers slow down so now would be a good time to implement that strategy but since we don't have a good player behind him I expect Ware to finish with 13 sacks or so but 9 of them will be in the first 8 games.

The only other place I think they are comparable to us is at Reciever. I'd give Dallas the edge in every other position group beside Dline.... And a push at WR and QB I know people may think Eli is the better QB cuz of the rings, but I'd still take Romo over him, so I'll call that a push.

You Cowboy fans suck.

Y'all are a bunch of wimps that are scared of your own shadows.

Grow a pair.

Why come on a message board full of wimps? Don't you feel like we can bring your manliness down to our pathetic level? Your like a Charles Bronson tough guy, hanging with Rick Moranis type nerds. I can tell by the conviction seeping through your keyboard just how tough you are, and your right I'm terrified by it.
